The Mujahideen Resistance to the Taliban Begins Now. But we need help..
WOuldn't this be supporting the same corrupt regional warlords who ran the country into the ground, creating the conditions for the Taliban to take over in the first place (and who cut and run in the first opportunity - abandoning all the weapons and equipment the US gave them but keeping the $$$)

Re: Afghani Resistance Thread
Maybe you just need to be a bit more discerning about who you support?
I see no problem with supporting anti-Taliban forces that have an good track record.
- especially if it was a bit more carefully monitored and audited (as far as possible - but you gotta be realistic too)
Massoud's forces have aways seemed to be Good Guys to me. (not saying perfect)
They haven't cut and run - quite the opposite.
They have been uniquely successful before.
They were gutted against the Taliban by the Western picked "leader" who everybody hated.
The have the fierce support of their own pop - and other groups, fighters and tribes seem to be putting their lives on the line and signing up with them.
Massoud is genuinely pro western and anti Fundamentalism.
Never heard anything about rampart corruption. (??)
IMO in the long run they have a chance of success. As with the Chinese we shouldn't get into the mind frame that the Taliban will always be on the ascendancy.
Why not give them some support?
Unless you have a total retreatist point of view - from the world.
Personally i don't think the West should just say "ah whatever" to the events of the world
- just be a bit wiser about it.
not advocating for them, it's their war - just sayin'

Taliban about to get reality check from Afghan resistance, says Maj Gen GD Bakshi on Arnab's Debate
Gen GD Bakshi has a world of experience and understanding of Pakistan and it's dastardly dealings from commanding Indian forces in the longstanding Jammu and Kashmir conflict.
Some interesting points here

India will support the resistance
Taliban have always operated on Hubris, don't be fooled

Re: Afghani Resistance Thread
there is a lot of truth in that question, Doc
Richard, I reckon the dough is going to flow from the Free World including especially good ol' youknowwho, as always. Thru India this time.
We are going to want to counter-balance china, or at least not completely vacate the field. And Islamic terrorism will continue to be a worry.
India itself will throw in heaps. and be an excellent base for supply, etc - within the constrains of the isolation factor of the resistance.
Relax, i am not about to start a Go-fund. nor be their official "Information Bureau"
This thread was partly to put out a different narrative to the other thread. Positive, but also very realistic. this shit is happening right now. That's realistic enough for me anyway.
Also simply because i reckon Afghanistan is going to still be a fascinating play over the next X number of decades - as it has been for westerners for the past 2331 years.
And - i bet you 20 bucks - this resistance has legs.

An Anti-Taliban Front Is Already Forming. Can It Last?
The newly dubbed National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, led by the son of assassinated Northern Alliance commander Ahmad Shah Massoud, who took his father’s name, issued a rallying cry in the opinion pages of the Washington Post earlier this week to petition for U.S. aid.

The inner upcoming war in Afghanistan could devastate the already hurting country
to bad, as such great people
