Smashed Truck Driver Crashed Through Naga Roundabout

Cambodia News (Svay Rieng Province): On August 16, 2021, on National Road 1, in front of the Department of Education Youth and Sport in Svay Rieng, a cargo truck (Phnom Penh 3C-0630) crashed into the Naga roundabout completely obliterating the iconic symbol of Svay Rieng province.

According to the locals, there were a number of factors which may have caused the accident, such as the lack of street lights which made the area so dark to see at night, and the lack of familiarity of the region by the driver. But most of all, it was caused by the carelessness of the driver, and it suspected that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Unfortunately, the driver escaped the scene, running away into the night, leaving the damaged cargo truck behind, which was later towed away by the authorities waiting the suspect or the truck owner to come forward and claim the vehicle.
