Homeless British Man Passed Away in Siem Reap
Siem Reap: It has been reported on social media, on 6 August 2021, that a British national, Jason Silman, has passed away in Siem Reap, aged 46.
A friend of his has since posted that he saw Jason a few days before his death; that he was struggling to survive in Cambodia, and that he was trying to return to the UK.
But, according to his friend, Jason did not have the money to get the necessary documents, and the British Embassy was not particularly helpful. Very sad situation.
There are no further details on the cause of death. RIP and condolences to the family and friends.

If anybody from the UK embassy is reading this, please pass this on to the consul.
With all the respect due
In full awareness of your legal responsibilities, and of the constraints that are mandated
I call you a first class Bastard.
You have forsaken your humanity for a perverted interpretation of your role
- with due respect once again, i think most probably because you wanted so much to crawl to the top of your "exalted" heap.
How low do you have to go to keep it?
I apologise for my forthrightness but perhaps you can understand.
Now, resign.
You have bought shame to yourself, your station, and your country.
Sincerely...
s.

Re: Homeless British Man Passed Away in Siem Reap
“fake pandemic”
Re: Homeless British Man Passed Away in Siem Reap
Does anyone have more information on cause of death? 46 is awful young even if he was living rough; there's reference to an illness, but no specifics
Re: Homeless British Man Passed Away in Siem Reap
What is it with the British Embassy! Surely these are difficult times where any of their own british people can find themselves in a bad situation in the todays pandemic, and for sure it should be taken into consideration for the welfare of the person.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Which in turn undermines or questions the credibility of everything else written.

Re: Homeless British Man Passed Away in Siem Reap
The British embassy in Cambodia is a disgrace to our country and has been ever since Stephen Bridges left his post. They don't even care about British infants born in Cambodia being denied their basic legal right to a birth certificate (which then prevents them from being able to get their British passport, which again they are legally entitled to), they just tell you to get fucked and deal with it on your own.
If you're a Brit living in Cambodia then you need to operate on the understanding that you have zero support from your embassy. They have abdicated their duties to private companies like VFS when possible, and simply abandoned whatever duties can't be outsourced. Tina Redshaw is nothing short of a disgrace to herself, her family and her nation. Anyone who is surprised that she would leave a compatriot to die in a park over a measly $100 for paperwork evidently hasn't had any experience with her or the shitshow she presides over.

Embassy staff need a lesson in humanity and compassion.

This should be front page news in England.
