BANGKOK -- An investigation is underway in Thailand after the body of a Swiss woman was found Thursday at a secluded spot on the southern island of Phuket.
Thai media reported that the woman’s partially clothed body was lying face down in a rock crevice near a waterfall and appeared to have been concealed by a sheet. Personal documents nearby showed she was 57 years old.
The circumstances of the death weren't immediately clear, but Thai Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tanee Sangrat said in a message posted to an online media group that Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai had contacted the Swiss ambassador to express his condolences “on the murder of a Swiss woman in Phuket.”
Tanee said the Phuket governor has promised an immediate investigation and autopsy.
The Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs said in an e-mail it was aware of the death of “an alleged Swiss citizen” in Phuket and that the victim had not yet been definitively identified. The Swiss Embassy in Bangkok was in contact with Thai authorities, it said, while declining to comment further for privacy reasons.
Thai police have not yet commented.

Poor woman, assuming the initial reports are correct probably the last thing the incompetent authorities were hoping to have to deal with with attention focussed on the Phuket Sandbox.
Not trying to be overly dramatic but I think realistic, one of my grimmer predictions from the fallout from Covid and coming out of the recovery has always been there will be a much less street safe environment for holidaying tourists and foreigners in general. I think it is inevitable there is going to be a spike in crime in places like Pattaya and Phuket, the only reason it's not happening now is the absence of tourists to rob. It could deal a long term blow to the perception of Thailand as a reasonably safe country to visit. As for the kind of scamming that has gone on in the past and is more or less common practice against tourists, I expect it will be off the scale and send out an equally negative advert for the country.

Re: Phuket: 57 Years Old Swiss Woman Found Dead (Murdered?)
a truly remote place and whats alarming is they figure she had been dead 3 days when found
Reporters reported that From the examination of the information, it was known that The deceased was named Nicole Sauvain-Weisskopf. Nationality of Switzerland, age 57, arrived in Thailand on 13 July 64 through the immigration checkpoint at Phuket Airport.
Nobody reported her missing??

addition;
tourists are required to download the Mor chana tracking app when they arrive, so If she had her phone with her, ( i would think her attacker stole it but still they could track it) will make the job for the police very easy

how else will they know if u were around someone that tested positive without the tracking app?
its been in use with locals since last year.
In essence, the app will allow you to check in when you go to different locations around Thailand, enter shops and buildings. As guests in the country, expats and travellers here should acknowledge that we have a role and responsibility to play in getting this current situation under control, as well as the Thais.
Of course you are well entitled to decide NOT to download and activate the app but the narrative from the government is that they see More Chana as an important part of their strategy. The app will also alert you when you are entering areas or provinces of potentially high risk. Being alert to these situations is like being alert to any other type of news.
FYI:
read her phone was found near her body>>

To add even more attention to the case it turns out the lady was a Swiss Diplomatic Official, Like mentioned by PR surprising she was off the radar for 3 days before being found by accident.
