Cambodia to reopen to Tourists

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Prime Minister HE has decided to lift all quarantine requirements for fully vaccinated travellers and visitors – both Cambodians and foreign nationals – effective from November 15 onward.

In a special message addressed to officials and relevant authorities on November 14, HE said this policy will enable the country to fully reopen and that it mirrored the policies of other countries in the region. He also emphasised that any unvaccinated travellers must still undergo a 14-day quarantine.

“Cambodia is almost fully vaccinated at nearly 88 per cent of the total population of around 16 million. So, there is no quarantine requirement any longer, except for those who have not been vaccinated who still need to do a 14-day quarantine like before,” he said.

He said fully vaccinated travellers will only need to take a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test and wait for the results at their accommodation. If the results are negative, they can then travel anywhere in Cambodia.

My elite sources were correct (again)!

Smart move by the authorities, if they had waited until nearer Xmas they would have lost the peak high season (barang) market.

And with the bars closed in all of Thailand until Jan 16, a wonderful opportunity to capture all of the entertainment market.

It will be mostly barangs. Chinese cannot come or are heavily disincentivised. Malaysians cannot come by land border. General covid paranoia of most Asians will deter them for a while longer.

Basically they stole a march on Thailand. Just need to promote it in the barag countries and tempt plenty of short notoce bookings.

Looks like there's been a change in the story. Last paragraph now says rapid test not PCR test:
He said fully vaccinated travellers will only need to take a rapid test and wait for the results at their accommodation. If the results are negative, they can then travel anywhere in Cambodia.
Hmmm. Gives me pause now, sitting here in Bangkok, the evenings ruined by the 9 pm alcohol cutoff. And don't think I'm a high volume user; I'm in bed by around 11 pm. 9 pm is a stupid cutoff time and it is unlikely to change until, well, who knows. Maybe Jan. 16. Two more months of job-killing actions by the moronic government.

FYI: I just did a home rapid antigen test this past Wednesday, on day 6 after my arrival. Takes only 15 minutes.

This is great news. I'd been holding off booking an ASQ hotel in the hope this might happen. Now I get another week in PP :D

you seriously think that there are many "Tourists" that will now travel from europe and beyond, to Only Cambodia vs Thailand ( only 1 night quarantine), just cause they can have a drink in a bar?

Has the VOA been re started? Has the insurance requirement been cancelled? Can you book Any Hotel?

Er, yep. We all know you are a morally sound individual who never frequents bars Richard, but try to empathise with us degenerates. And Asian bars do not have any equivalent in barang countries. I won't try to explain.

The eVisa is a better alternative to the visa on arrival btw.

OK, Richard. Have a Leo. Today we've only got the bones of the story. There will likely be more related developments in the coming hours and days. Let's see what happens among the ripples of today's announcement.

I would say you had valid points but I don't want to echo Thai propaganda. 8)

@PSD-Kiwi
Can you convert an online T-Visa to an EB or an ER visa once you are here?

My agent says yes, but I trust you more.
