Lawyer Disappeared Off Otres Beach, Sihanoukville

Cambodia News, (Preah Sihanouk Province): A young man disappeared into the waves on the evening of August 3, 2021 while he was enjoying a swim with three other friends at Village 6, Sangkat 4, at Otres beach in Sihanoukville. The victim was named as Chou Chea Kuy, a 29-year-old Cambodian man who worked as a lawyer in Phnom Penh and who came to Sihanoukville as a tourist with his friends.

According to Lt. Col. Por Vanra, Director of the Coastal Tourism Police Office, the man went missing at around 4:30 pm, and jet-skis were sent out to look for him. Unfortunately, he is now presumed drowned, and boats will be sent out in a search party for the body tomorrow morning.

Sihanoukville authorities urge all the public to pay attention to their safety when swimming, because it is easy to drown when the sea is rough at this time of year.

UPDATE

Cambodia News, Sihanoukville: The body of the missing holidaymaker, Chou Cheakuy, a lawyer from Phnom Penh who disappeared in the sea at Otres beach at 16:30 on 3 August, was recovered at 5:30 this morning, 4 August.
An autopsy confirmed that the man died of drowning and his body was given over to the family for funeral rites. RIP.
