Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): According to the competent authorities of the Department of Drug Suppression from the Ministry of Interior, on July 20, 2021 at 10:35 AM, the competent forces of the Department of Anti-Drug Crimes (A1) cracked down on two criminals who were trafficking in drugs at 4 different locations in Phnom Penh:
1- at the point of the road, Sangkat Tuol Sangke 1, Khan Russey Keo,
2 - at the former dairy factory on National Road 5. Sangkat Toul Sangke 1, Khan Russey Keo,
3- at house No. 1329, Street 103, Toul Thlan village, Sangkat Toul Sangke 2, Khan Russey Keo,
4 - house: D 2, concrete road, Kraing Thnong village, Sangkat Kraing Thnong, Khan Sar Sen Sok

Two people were arrested for drug trafficking: 1. Name: San Piseth, male, 37 years old, Khmer nationality. 2. Name: Sok Ponlok, male, 30 years old, Khmer nationality.

A total of 50 kilograms of 286.66 grams of drugs were seized, including 30 large packages of methamphetamine (ICE) packaged as Chinese tea, 4 smaller packages of methamphetamine each weighing 340 grams , and 20 large packages of ketamine equal to 19 kilograms.

Currently, the suspects and the above exhibits will be sent to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court according to the procedure.

Further arrests have been made in Phnom Penh .

Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): Following the drug raid ordered by His Excellency General Neth Savoeun, National Police Commissioner General and His Excellency General Mak Chito, five suspects have been arrested. Four of the suspected criminals are Vietnamese, 2 men and two women, and one is a Cambodian male national.

1-Name is Horm Savuth, Male, 52 years old, Cambodian.
2-Name: Le VAN DUOT, Male, 31 years old, Vietnamese
3-Name: NGUYEN THANH CUONG, Male, 26 years old, Vietnamese
4-Name: Le CAM PHUNG, Female, 25 years old, Nationality: Vietnamese
5. Name: HOANG NGOC HAN, female, 25 years old, Vietnamese.

B- Captured exhibits:
1- Extraction (MDMA), net weight 101 kg, 982.04 grams.
2- Ketamine, net weight 39 kg, 854 g.
3- Methamphetamine (ICE) net weight 14 kg 450.76 grams.
4. Synthetic Cathinone (also known as bath salts) net weight 112.81 grams.
Total drug weight 156 kg 399.61g
Chemical compound (liquid) acetone, net weight 6 kg, 668.25 g.

I wonder why they still use the "Chinese tea" packaging.
Everybody knows, even those who are not there and never used meth.

It is the branded packaging of the top-quality ice that comes from Myanmar (likely Wa State). This brand carries value, similar to coca-cola, in that it indicates quality and purity. They also use branded packaging for heroin, the double lion brand. This packaging is intended to represent the brand, not to be concealment, intelligent traffickers will find other ways to conceal it

The packaging looks like a tea packaging, but are you saying it is also stating details about the nature of the content (with specs about purity and the actual name of the meth's brand), or is written basic stuff about tea (which would mean it's just the convenient type of packaging of the moment for the leading gang in the industry, but not relying on it for concealment purposes) ?

If you have a translation of these kind of tea-like meth package...i'm curious

All good, I also find the drug trade in this region very interesting and have spent sometime experiencing it first hand. So no, the packaging does not contain spec's about the meth, it just says basic stuff about the Chinese tea, but these green Chinese tea bags are recognized by wholesale buyers and others as indicating it originates from a particular organization in Myanamr (the wa state army), but it has since been copied by others. its similar to the heroin packaging which just indicates a brand, (see google search for double lion heroin, i don't know how to paste images here)

With respect to your second question, virtually all the methamphetamine and heroin in Cambodia is made in Myanmar, (small amount is made in Laos), but that doesn't mean these fella's are a part of that organization that made it, just that they received the product downstream. unlike the mexican cartels which are vertically integrated, this level or integration does not exist in SEA. One group manufactures it in myanmar and sells it to traders who take it to China/Laos, who sell it to locals who take it to Cambodia/Thailand and down the chain, its highly fragmented with a lot of hand-offs in between. And if you know anything about SEA you know the government/army/police are getting a cut in each locality

Well, it looks pretty scary, the scale of it, the size of the city, the randomness, the whole chain from production to end customer.

Unfortunately my Wifi is picture less today, I would think reflection on the Borey is getting the reputation un-needed, but then again would the backer of such an enterprise need to be of some possition in wealth, or only that of being themselves a common drug dealer who has been doing well for sometime. What is probably more of a surprise or not is the Cambodians involvement, and what of the Vietnamese, Chemists or Mules, or is it that the manufactured drugs are meant for only home supply. No matter now because of the good policing this ring as been shut down, but can't help thinking this is only one of many small operations.
