Stair gate/baby gate wanted
Long shot….
We are looking for a stair gate/baby gate to stop the little fella venturing up the not so well designed stairs up to Lawtue/ឡៅតឿ. The upstairs, mezzanine bedroom. He revels in climbing them and then messing about and hiding. Great fun, apparently. For some.
So, if any of you have a forgotten one gathering dust, or another workable simple solution that you’ve used. The only thing is it’s not a very wide stairway, but it is steep.

How old is the little fella ? If he still crawling about, you can stick an old door, a window shutter or any other solid barrier across the stairs so he can't get through, but the adults can still step over it without opening up a crawl space.

We tried that with Pubert, he climbed right over it. We had custom gates made and mounted at all danger points. You could try those metal shops on St. 163 (they are on the right side as you go one way South towards MST, sorry cannot remember cross street) and ask to have a custom gate made. Cost is cheap. Have it drilled and mounted into the wall with a latch. Pubert had fun trying to unlock the damn thing, but never got the hang of it until he was old enough for it to not matter any more.Anchor Moy wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 8:13 pm How old is the little fella ? Good advice. Haha, you can see that I don't have an actual toddler to deal with.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Sat Jul 24, 2021 8:35 pmWe tried that with Pubert, he climbed right over it. All worthwhile ideas!
He’s 2 ¼ going on 40. Wanders around muttering to himself while scratching his nuts, and sort of dancing to YouTube. Normally, not an issue, but was a bit comical in sher-e-Punjab this evening.
I’d thought of something bigger, like a full height door. ¾ width. Which might work quite well. It needs to remain easily accessible for adults, and be Freightjunior proof. I suspect it won’t be long before he’s worked a way around it, anyway, or destroyed it.

We leave our door open to the front (car on drive, then road) and the boxes have got bigger to stop her escaping. Now people can’t get in without doing themselves an injury, and she still climbs up!
Kids climb over stair gates anyway.

People of the world, spice up your life.

I’m hoping that by the time he can climb over, he can better negotiate the stairs coming back down, which at present is no easy task. Like a cat climbing a tree.
The stairs are set at an angle that suit the confines of a ship, but without an hand hold, and dark.

i really must read these thread titles more carefully.
stargate.. stair gate.
Don't get a stair gate ... get a stargate.

Are the stairs fixed in place? If so, how securely fixed?
You could make them moveable and lift them 2+ feet off the floor so can't get on them. Pull them back down when you need to go up them.
