The triple question mark made me wonder...it's rarely for a pleasant remark, here.

??
Is there anything specific related to France about that ?
Doc67 wrote: Sun Jul 25, 2021 9:22 am That's surprising. Once the ovens are up and running I would have thought you might as well stay open.
Oh i see. Were Frenchs supposed to be either lazy, or just too thick to think about reducing the fire in the oven to reduce consumption while closing a bit, in your mind ?

Yes, French shops closed in the afternoon when I first went there and every time since. As far as I know they still do. Non-French people have actually noticed this practice and remember it - the secret is out.

As one of the other posters pointed out, so do Spanish shops. However, Phnom Penh has a very large French community (as you well know) but the Spanish are harder to find than an honest policeman.

All the French restaurants here seem to close in the afternoon. So, when the unusual practice of afternoon closure of a restaurant was noticed I thought, not unreasonably, that the owner might indeed be French.

Clutch pointed out that this was also the practice of Romano's and they are all Khmer, which induced the further comment about pizza ovens etc and the French were not even mentioned.

There was no comment or suggestion about the French being thick or lazy. There was no jibe or me having a dig at the French.

Try not to be so touchy or quick to take offence, it is so stereotypical. (Now that's a dig :D )

Beg to differ. Aussie XL pizzas are excellent. Also Limoncello's.

Green pepper has my vote. A bit pricey, but best dough and quality ingredients.
