Coming to Cambodia help

Post by The Judge »

My fiancee is planning to come to Cambodia next month for long-term/permanent stay. I've spent loads of time trying to find succint info on current procedures, such as pre-flight Covid test result documentation needed, option to select quarantine hotel location, rather than being assigned a location, opting out of quarantine location's food program, visa types available upon arrival, to name a few.

I recall reading one person's account who arrived in the last month or so, but damned if I can find it now! So many fricking Covid threads, but I'm not interested in market lockdowns, death tolls, infected rates, quarantine escapees, etc.

I would be incredibly grateful for anyone who can either provide: 1) accurate information about these matters, 2) a website that has this information nicely summarized, 3) the most applicable thread on CEO, or 4) their own recent personal experience in this regard.

Like sousadeyy said but, your fiancee probably isn't going to be allowed here. I hope they enjoy the embassy visits!

The Hardest part about travelling to Cambodia is getting the visa
There are NO tourists visas being issued, NO visa available on arrival

How will she get a visa?
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

I know of a great job she can get in Sihanoukville but you won’t see her for six months. PM for details.

For the most comprehensive, current and accurate information and advice on Cambodian Immigration policies and procedures, including the current entry requirements and restrictions, join the Cambodia Visa and Work Permit group on farcebook.

Most Cambodian Government/Embassy websites, including the MoFAIC website, as well as foreign Embassy websites, airlines, and personal blogs are still displaying outdated and incorrect information.

Basic summary:

Cambodia's land and sea borders remain closed to entry of foreigners without the necessary authorisations, but you can still fly in to PP or Sihanoukville if you meet the requirements below....

Must have a valid multi entry/exit Visa EOS (Extension of Stay), A-type (Diplomatic), B-type (Official) Visa, C-type (Courtesy) Visa, E-type (Ordinary) Visa or K-type (Special) Visa.

If not in possession of MEEV EOS, then you need to apply for Visa in Advance from a Cambodian Embassy or consulate. Justification is required for Visa type being applied for, however you should contact the relevant Embassy/Consulate to confirm exactly what their criteria is as the criteria does vary from Embassy to Embassy.

1. All T-type (Tourist) Visas, Visa Exempt entries (ASEAN passport holders), Visas on Arrival and e-Visas (electronic online Tourist Visa) are suspended.

(*Taiwanese passport holders are eligible to apply for the E-type (Ordinary) Visa online at evisa(dot)gov(dot)kh )

2. All Passengers must have an original printed medical certificate/lab report indicating a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR test result issued at most 72 hours before departure from first International embarkation point. Must be original (not copy), must have wet ink signature & stamp.

3. All General foreigners must have a colour printed Forte COVID-19 Insurance policy. Available at https://www.forteinsurance.com/covid-19-insurance/

- This does not apply to nationals of Cambodia travelling on a Cambodian passport, or foreign passport with K-type (Special) Visa.
- This does not apply to passengers with an A (Diplomatic) or B (Official) -type Visa issued by Cambodia.

4. All General foreigners must deposit USD $2,000 at a designated bank on arrival.

- This does not apply to nationals of Cambodia travelling on a Cambodian passport, or foreign passport with K-type (Special) Visa.
- This does not apply to passengers with an A (Diplomatic) or B (Official) -type Visa issued by Cambodia.

5. Passengers are subject to medical screening on arrival and mandatory quarantine for 14 days minimum at a facility allocated by the MoH.

- Nationals of Cambodia travelling on a Cambodian passport, or foreign passport with K-type (Special) Visa can quarantine for free at a Government quarantine facility, or opt for hotel quarantine at their own expense.
- General foreigners quarantine expenses will be deducted from the deposit.
- A (Diplomatic) or B (Official) -type Visa holders can pre-book their quarantine at the Sokha or Himawari Hotel.
- A-type (Diplomatic) Visa holders can be quarantined at an approved residence as arranged by the Embassy.

All arrivals will receive a 2nd PCR test on day 13 of quarantine, and will be released from quarantine following negative test results on day 14, although there may sometimes be a delay in results due to pressure on testing facilities. (Day of arrival is day zero)

Unused portion of deposit can be collected from the bank used for the deposit.

Why disregard Sokha?
Because they can only pre-book the Himawari, not Sokha.
