Kampot Noticeboard

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

The reason it was deleted (I’m guessing) is because they get so many Covid posts. There’s a dedicated thread for that.

But yes, it’s heavily moderated but has relaxed recently because the “newcomers” (Sihanoukville) outnumber them now.

That fat ginger guy likes to get up people using the noticeboard login but not his own.

No masks, shirts or helmets.

And rubber baron. There’s many cases in Kep and all over Kampot now. Covid doesn’t know boundaries.
People of the world, spice up your life.

Then there's the small point that you are more likely to get struck by lightning than get Covid from outdoor transmission.

There is not a single documented Covid infection anywhere in the world from casual outdoor interactions, such as walking past someone on a street or eating at a nearby table.

It seems that biggest concern to the most Kampoters is to find 50 cent beer and 2$ meal.

Every time I go to the shop, mart, pharmacy, stall etc, everybody is wearing a mask, so I disagree with the OP here

And as pointed out, it's empirically proven that covid does not do well outdoors, so there's no logic to wearing a mask out in the fresh air

Paywall blocked, unfortunately. Says I've used up my free articles. And this is July 2. Anyway, thanks for the link.

While I agree that the chances for an outdoor infection are near nil I see these Western people being close to Khmer shops selling, fruit, drinks, etc., even buying stuff. The case of that psycho in Kampot comes to mind. The high cases originate mostly in the Kompong Trach area near the VN border with the casino there. Khmer people are scared of contracting it but still act rather carelessly. They travel to see family in Kep, Kampot, and elsewhere, with the high probability they carry the virus unbeknownst to them. Therefore, I am amazed that so many Westerners don't seem to give a hoot, interacting with Khmer the way they do. Just go to the old section of town. The small foreign-owned restaurants all have Khmer staff who might have relatives in the Kompong Trach area. I always thought Kep had only a few cases throughout the 2 years so far and was really surprised to read that it has had 132 altogether. That number has risen over the last 4 - 5 months, with 32 here, and 12 there, etc. That can't all be from Phnom Penh.
