Post by CEOCambodiaNews »

CEO News Question of the Day :Was the oknha arrested for selling a prime police position, or was it because he took the money and did not deliver ?

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On June 18, 2021, Oknha Prak Prakod was detained after an arrest warrant was issued by the Ministry of Justice following charges of fraud filed on May 25, accusing him of pocketing $100 000 out of a $300 000 fraud in which the suspect guaranteed the position of Deputy Police Commissioner of Sihanoukville for Mrs. Chan Thou's spouse, Eng Oun, in an agreement made on January 15, 2021.

The victims transferred $100 000 to the suspect while waiting for the result(which never came), then they would transfer the rest. They tried to reach the defender many times but were given vague answers and excuses, which led them to file the report to get their $100 000 back with an extra $50 000 for damages.
The warrant was issued on June 3 for the suspect to appear for questioning on June 17, however, he didn't show up, which led to his arrest.
The case is still under investigation.

How much do deputy police commissioners make? How did someone who was below a deputy police commissioner (probably a cop of course) have 100k up to 300k later?

If she can part with $300K for that job, it's probably just a fraction of her total assets. Maybe in the millions of $.

Some people here look deceptively wanting but wait til you see what's under their beds.

As much as them and their men can extort from the local population, which in this case is obviously a lot. A whole lot of cases are resolved in the police station.

I always wonder why they don't also arrest or seize assets from the "victims", who are also doing something illegal...
