Oknha Arrested After Falsely Promising Plum Police Post for $300,000
Re: Oknha Arrested After Falsely Promising Plum Police Post for $300,000
Kind of like going to the cops to report that you tried to trade some stolen milatary grade weapons to the cartel for some coke and it wasn't coke. Please get me my guns back and some cash for my trouble.
Throw them all in the slammer!

Senior SNV police and governor administration jobs are ripe pickings as the container port generates huge profits in...um...fees. The numbers are simply...astounding. So 300k for a senior slot at that trough is reasonable. Add in all the casinos....
I find this whole case hilarious as it is illegal to pay a bribe for a position...therefore everyone involved should be arrested. But, this being Cambodia...

It's the clever little shuffle of "oh, my wife paid it, I didn't know" I reckon, that stops him from being prosecuted - if we look at the wording;Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 9:50 pm

the suspect guaranteed the position of Deputy Police Commissioner of Sihanoukville for Mrs. Chan Thou's spouse, Eng Oun, in an agreement made on January 15, 2021.

Meanwhile a similar case, albeit on a smaller scale, was up before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court today. Again, the word corruption is not mentioned.
2-Star General Arrested for Fraud
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): On the evening of June 21, 2021, Major General Hang Vannak at the Ministry of Interior was arrested in connection with the crime of fraud, concerning the sum of more than 20,000 dollars that he allegedly received in return for false promises to several people that they would gain entry into the ranks of the National Police.
There are still a series of victims who are preparing to file a lawsuit against Mr. 2 star Hang Vannak who took the money and ran away. They hope that the leaders of the Ministry of Interior will check the criminal activities of Mr. Hang Vannak, who currently lives in Prek Samrong 3 Village, Sangkat Takhmao, Takhmao City, Kandal Province.
It should be reminded that Major General Hang Vannak was arrested by the Phnom Penh Municipal Bureau of Minor Offenses and sent to court on June 21, 2021, for attempted fraud.
Mr. I Rin, Director of the Secretariat and Spokesman of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, stated on 22 June 2021 that Judge San Bunthoeun decided to hold a pre-trial hearing to decide whether or not to continue the detention of Mr. Hang Vannak at the request of the prosecution.

This sounds a helluva lot like corruption on top of corruption. At the request of the prosecution? So the judge and prosecutor are trying to extort money for themselves, to waive detention of the arrested 2-star general?CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Wed Jun 23, 2021 1:01 am Meanwhile a similar case, albeit on a smaller scale, was up before the Phnom Penh Municipal Court today. Isn't that small sums of money for the scammers? $100K for an Okhna isn't worth running a scam?

Wife has a friend who works at the port. They paid $20k or something and she maybe works two days a week. Wife asked what department she works in and she said she doesn’t know. Her dad also works there.Felgerkarb wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 9:50 pmSenior SNV police and governor administration jobs are ripe pickings as the container port generates huge profits in...um...fees. She got up the duff and passed on her position to her brother, who also isn’t sure what department he works in.
She didn’t even complete university.
People of the world, spice up your life.
