What are these?
What are these?
Been seeing a lot of these little bastards around my apartment lately. They started to appear out of nowhere about a week or so ago. Never seen them before. I now probably see five to eight a day.
Kinda curious to know what they are (me and my partner haven't noticed any bites so I don't think they're harmful) but more importantly, just curious to know if it's an infestation of just our apartment or if it's somehow the season for these whatever-they-are-thingys, and are everywhere around the city /country?

It is a kind of weevil, but not sure which one. If you are on FB, post on "Natural Cambodia". Harmless to humans but a pest.

Re: What are these?
Seen rice weavils happily infesting and multiplying in my (well-sealed) tin of rice. Not like yours above but seeing this reminds me of them in the kitchen.
Entomology can be quite interesting. Was just watching a documentary about jewel wasps the other night.
And i found this pic of a giraffe weavil. That pivot point linking neck and body is quite an evolutionary wonder.

Spot on! Thanks. Yes we do (did) have a bag of sweet potatoes in the kitchen that were just about still edible but have been there perhaps a little too long.IraHayes wrote: ↑Tue Jun 22, 2021 7:42 am https://www.growingproduce.com/vegetabl ... -the-slip/
Looks like a close match.
Safely disposed of now. Thanks again!
