Cambodian Immigration Requests Help to Deport Chinese Criminals

Cambodia seeks help to expedite repatriation of arrested Chinese nationals

Cambodia has sought the cooperation of China to expedite the repatriation of its nationals arrested for various criminal offences in the Kingdom.

The request was made by the Ministry of Interior’s Immigration Department director-general, General Kieth Chantharith, following the overcrowding of arrested Chinese nationals at the eviction preparation office at the General Department of Immigration.

Gen Chantharith said this when having a meeting with a delegation from the Ministry of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China led by Wu Jian Min, deputy director-general of the Department of International Relations and chief representative at the Ministry of Interior yesterday.

While seeking quick solution to resolving the issue of repatriation of the Chinese nationals, Gen Chantharith thanked the Chinese government for all that they are doing for Cambodia and its people in terms of technical and medical equipment and preventive supplies for the prevention and control of Covid-19.

“The bilateral relations and cooperation between both countries are positive and good and this can be further strengthened with the Chinese Immigration Department sharing their expertise on technical training and reciprocal exchanges under the framework of bilateral cooperation between the two nations,” he added.

The good must certainly out way the bad, when you have this type of bilateral relations were immigration of both countries can talk together. Cambodia have the problems of China's criminals, and a guess is China's not in a hurry to have them back. I would think the cooperation and relations will strengthen when China provides a grant for larger detention centres.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

I could be wrong but my take was that cambodia is just politely asking china to cover the cost of the airfares

So all those posters who thought that Chinese criminals got off lightly and were quietly repatriated back to civilian life might want to rethink their ideas. The reality is that they are clogging up an overloaded prison system here and the authorities want rid of them as they just don't have the budgets. When they are eventually deported they will be sent to be re-educated and to the Gulags and there is little chance they will ever be able to go abroad again. Unfortunately there are plenty more where they came from. 8)

I guess these ones have no cash. Most of the Chinese that are jailed just pay a large amount of cash and are released again.
