PM Extends Condolences over Royal Ballet Grand-Master Em Theay’s Passing

Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE has expressed his deepest condolences to the family of grandmother Em Theay, the grand-master of the Royal Ballet who passed away on June 15 at the age of 88 years old.

This is a great loss for Cambodia as she was the last living legacy of the Cambodian traditional Royal Ballet, underlined the Premier in his condolence message this morning.

Grand-master Em Theay passed away on June 15 at 00:20, after a long struggle with various ailments for many years with perseverance and efforts to preserve the royal dance for future generations.

In her life, she has devoted to the Royal Ballet, even in Khmer Rouge regime, during which she survived thanks to this dance.

After the fall of this genocidal regime, she returned to Phnom Penh and resumed her career until she passed away.
