‘Acid Attacker’ arrested as he attempts to enter quarantine

A man who inflicted horrific injuries on his ex partner by dousing her in acid has been arrested by police as he tried to undergo quarantine for COVID-19.

Heng Chandy, a 43 year old motodop, was arrested in 2 Kampong Traas commune, Lemon, Tbong Khmom province and charged with the attempted murder of Ly Rany, who lives in 1 district, Chom Chao Chom Chom Chao.

Authorities say that Ly Rany and Heng Chandy had previously lived together as man and wife – although not legally married.

However, their relationship had broken down and Heng Chandy had moved in with another women and lived with her for 5 years.

However, he decided to try and reconcile with Ly Rany. However, she refused to entertain the possibility of rekindling their relationship, so – in a fit of jealousy – Heng Chandy attacked Ly Rany with a vial of acid on March 28th, causing lifechanging injuries to the victim.

Heng Chandy the absconded from justice and evaded authorities until the 7th of June, when he was picked up as he was being processed for quarantine due to a suspicion of COVID-19.

Acid Attacker Finally Arrested 1 Year Later

Cambodia News (Thbong Khmom): On June 5, 2021, in Pi village, Kompong Treas commune, Krochhmar district, Thbong Khmom province, a suspect named Heng Chandy, a 43 year old moto-taxi driver, was arrested by Khan Po Sen Chey and Krochmar district police and accused of attacking his wife, Ly Rany, a 50-year-old security guard who lives in Khan Sen Sok, Phnom Penh, by throwing acid at her 1 year ago.
According to the police, the couple was not legally married for a period of time until the alleged attacker lost interest in his wife and started having affair with another mistress with whom he lived for over 5 years until 2020. Then he tried to return to live with his wife, however, he was rejected, which angered him so much so that he decided to attack his wife with acid that he threw at her face on March 28, 2020, at 22:15 causing severe pain and injuries. After hurting her, he also stole her phone and escaped.


The victim was sent to an emergency hospital for some months, and due to her serious injuries, she could not file for a police report. Nevertheless, the police were still working on the case, investigating the incident, and hunting for the acid thrower.
Then, finally, on June 2, 2021, the suspect surfaced at the quarantine station in Phom 2 village, Kompong Treas commune, Krochhmar district, Thbong Khmom province, where he was arrested and charged with attempted murder.

Somebody like this should be hung up & slowly lowered feet-first into a deep bath of acid

Fucking hell. Poor woman that did nothing wrong but only dared to say No.

The evil in me hopes he gets to feel his punishment. The good wonders is there some way to support this brave woman?

Yes, what can you say ? Disgusting man, and I hope he rots in jail.

What I did find quite encouraging though, was the fact that this attack was taken very seriously by the Cambodian police who continued to track this monster down and finally got him. You have to give credit when it's due, and as someone who has mocked or criticized the competent forces from time to time, I would like to thank the cops who are actually competent and got some justice for this woman, even if it took a year to find him.
Now to see what sentence he gets. Hope they throw the book at him. No impunity for acid throwers.

They can be very efficient when they want to be. There are spies and informants everywhere.

Yeah, not doubting the efficiency, it's the fact that the cops did WANT to be efficient in this case, even though the victim is the ex-wife of a motordop and therefore a social nobody (and therefore has no money.) But they did their job, and I'm sure the victim feels better now that the bastard is locked up. So .

Court Sentences Acid Attacker to 10 Years Prison
Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A vicious husband who threw acid on his ex-wife's face because of jealousy, was sentenced by the judge at the Phnom Penh Court to 10 years in prison on charges of « torture and brutality by use of acid » against his ex-wife in March 2020.

The accused is a violent husband named Heng Chandy, a motorcycle driver, living in village 3, Kampong Tras commune, Krochchmar district, Tbong Khmom province.

According to the story, the man who had been divorced by his wife for 3 years and was living with another woman, then came to ask his ex-wife to renconcile with him, but the wife refused because of his cruelty.
So, as revenge, the man lay in wait to attack the woman as she walked home at night from her work as a factory guard in Khan Porsenchey, Phnom Penh, and he threw acid at his ex-wife's face and body before running away. The woman was badly disfigured and spent many months in hospital.

Finally, a year after the acid attack, the police found and arrested the villain in Tbong Khmom province and put him in custody in 2021 , and he has now been sentenced 10 years prison on January 12, 2022.

an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth would have been fair on this one.
Plus a bit of jail. of course.
