Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): A drunk Chinese man drove a car at high speed and fell onto the riverbank at 2:20 am, on June 7, 2021, in Sangkat Chroy Changvar, Phnom Penh.

Before the incident, a Chinese man was driving a Toyota car plate PP1AP-4985 from east to west at high speed, when he missed the bridge and drove off the road onto the riverbank under the Chroy Changvar bridge.

Surprizingly, the driver emerged from the accident unharmed. The police checked the accident scene and allowed the car driver to take his car away to be fixed.

So they basically pulled him back up on the road and let him drive to the repair shop?

Would I be wrong to say, "Only in the KOW?"

But nowhere in the body of the OP does it state anything about him being drunk. Only the title. No reporting of open containers in the vehicle, no tests performed, no admission of drunkenness, nothing.

Strange.

It surprising that there is no barrier to prevent a vehicle going down the riverbank, I would think that this guy had some luck not to end up with a life threatening situation to himself. But for what happened after the incident is unbelievable.
Always "hope" but never "expect".

Just here in the body, first sentence:

If it was a regular occurrence in daytime I would give have doubts, however people driving at high speed and doing stunts like this at 2.20 AM are usually very drunk. Maybe he bought the police a few "drinks"? We'll never know now. 8)

UPDATE
Another source specifies that "police allowed the man to get his vehicle towed away to be fixed".

As opposed to the OP version, which leaves room for doubt as to how the car was removed:
The police checked the accident scene and allowed the car driver to take his car away to be fixed.
