Another nonce in the dock..Aussie Peter Hansen

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Another nonce in the dock..Aussie Peter Hansen

Post by Splashback »

Aussie nonce Peter Hansen awaits sentencing in Australian court over child rape and related offences committed in the Philippines and Vietnam. He spent considerable time in the region and was in Cambodia late 2018 just prior to being arrested upon his return home. Seems likely he had victims here as well. What a fucking piece of utter shit.

Hansen told the court he now links his offending with the moment he felt the most ashamed in his life — being led through Sydney Airport in handcuffs as onlookers "gawked".

He claimed he would "never" offend again.

"To the day I die, I will be remorseful for what I did," Hansen said.

Hansen has previously worked as a lawyer but turned to the church after realising his "sexual proclivities" were "abnormal", the court heard.

Although he looked to priesthood partially to fulfil a "spiritual life", during it he developed a dependency on pornography.

I often wonder why it's usually old men who get caught with these crimes? Surely a nonce is a nonce all of their lives? Do people live normal lives until they get to a certain age and then wake up one day and decide that they're going to be a nonce for the rest of their days? Or have they spent an entire lifetime being a nonce and it's simply a case that it takes this long to get caught?

I think we can safely say that the answer to this question is written all over that very punchable face.

I suppose once you realize your problem the priesthood is the obvious career.

A lawyer who suddenly realised his sexual proclivities were abnormal, as if any lawyer would go through a period of time thinking being a pedo was ok.
Developed 'dependency' on porn... so they should cut him some slack,he's just a poor addict.

The dude is a bullshit artist making some weak excuses after being caught.

Take everything they own and give it to their victims without question or court case.
I have one particular (boy scout leader) grub in mind who went gaol for 5 months and then came out to live the rest of his days in the giant mansion he had inherited as a kid + multi mill trust fund.
This one is personal, but there are many other situations like that.

Their victims either go thru an expensive, gruelling, often unsuccessful civil court case (the necessary evidence many years later is very hard to find, for something that happened in secret in the first place).
OR - in Oz - they might get a piddly 50G from the government's "fraudulent/farcical" redress scheme - If they go thru an extensive invasive re-traumatising process.
Redress is paid by the institution - not by the offender.

Yeah, and a punch plum square on the nose.

He is just one of the few that has gotten caught.
The low hanging fruit on this tree of perversion.
If he had more money and was politically connected he would still be out on the prowl.
The Church seems to be a place for these creeps to gravitate to, be moved around to avoid exposure and forgiven for their sins.
His remorse may be fake and just contrived because he was caught. But, most of the criminals caught these day have 0 remorse and in fact feel like they are in the right.
They loot and burn down cities and murder and act like it is their right or duty.
So, what does a guy like this get sentenced to in Australia?
20 years?
A nice cell, 3 meals a day and some exercise time, a library and computer?
