Cambodia News, (Phnom Penh): A suspect was arrested by the police for stealing scrap metal worth 50,000 USD, on May 21, 2021 at 9:30am, at the scrap warehouse on Street 217 in Mol village, Dangkor commune, Dangkor district, Phnom Penh.

The victim of the theft was identified as Leng Lim Eang, Male, 40 years old,trader, living in Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh, who reported the loss of 28 tons of scrap metal, worth US$ 50,000.

On May 20, 2021, at 19:00, Leng Lim Eang, asked the suspect, Sung Vicheka, 29 years old, to transport 28 tons of scrap metal from the scrap warehouse on Street 217 in Phum Mol, Sangkat Dangkor Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh to Pailin province.
However, at 7am on May 21, 2021, the victim called the suspect, but the phone could not be contacted, and the victim also checked the GPS installed in the transport vehicle. The location of the suspect was on National Road 5 in Phsar Trach Village, Longvek Commune, Kampong Tralach District, Kampong Chhnang Province. Then, one hour later, the victim checked the GPS again and found the same place.
Later on, the victim realized that the driver of the vehicle had disconnected the GPS function, and upon investigation, it was located in Kampong Cham province.


After that, the victim reported to the police of Cheung Prey district, Kampong Cham province to intervene and arrest the suspect, and reported to the police of Dangkor district who cooperated with the police of Cheung Prey district to capture the thief. The victim filed a complaint on behalf of the suspect for the authorities to take legal action.
