Cambodian Australian Dies of Covid-19 on Family Visit

Cambodia News (Banteay Meanchey): A visiting Cambodian Australian man died of Covid-19, at MB Villa guesthouse at 8 pm, on May 14, 2021, in Sisophon City, Banteay Meanchey.
Lieutenant Si Dy, Sisophon inspector, reported that the victim was identified as Voeun Chandin, 34 years old, who was living in Australia, but had recently arrived in Cambodia to visit his family in Poipet. He was found dead in room 105 at MB Villa guesthouse.
After his death, the medical team examined the body and they found that the man died of Covid-19.
The guesthouse owner, Sang Sophea, a 37-year-old man, said the victim came from Australia on April 24, 2021, and he got quarantined for 14 days in Phnom Penh. Then he wanted to see his family at Kbal Spean village in Poipet city, but because Poipet was in lockdown, he went to stay at MB guesthouse in Sisophon.
After finding that the victim died of Covid-19, the guesthouse was closed temporarily.
Banteay Meanchey Provincial Governor Oum Reatrey today issued an order to continue restrictions in Serey Sophorn (Sisophon) city for another week from today to May 21 to prevent the spread of COVID-19. including a curfew from 8pm to 5am until May 21.
