The ex-Miss Grand Cambodia has some powerful allies. More details of the saga of the alleged love affair gone wrong, and the allegedly fabricated photos of the TV star, from Rasmei Kampuchea:
A senior police official of the National Police General Commission described that Heng Sear's son-in-law hired a couple of men and women to make pornographic photos and shared on social media to mislead the public into believing that it is a picture of Miss Meas Pich Rita.

A spokesman for the National Police, Lt. Gen. Chhay Kim Khoeun, told Rasmei Kampuchea that authorities had arrested Khorn Chhun Dara, son-in-law of Duke Heng Sear to be interrogated at Phnom Penh Police Station.

Phnom Penh Municipal Police spokesman San Sok Seiha confirmed to Rasmei Kampuchea that experts were investigating.

Samdech Prime Minister HE has ordered a group of Samdech's volunteer lawyers to defend and seek justice to the end for Miss Mean Pich Rita, host of MY TV TV and a former Miss Grand Cambodia model who was accused of slandering and defaming the tycoon Heng Sear.

Tycoon Heng Sear has repeatedly revealed that he has a deep love affair with Miss Mean Pich Rita. Even dare to use the word eat to make more money.

Mean Pich Rita denied that she had ever had a deep love affair with Duke Heng Sear. She also rejected pornographic images fabricated by Duke Heng Sear.

The order of Samdech Techo HE and the denial of Miss Mean Pich Rita came after Duke Heng Sear released a letter last May 13, 2021, claiming to have had a deep love affair with Miss Mean Pich Rita. After that, some pornographic pictures were published by this tycoon, allegedly of Miss Mean Pich Rita.

Ms. Mean Pich Rita considers that the accusation of Duke Heng Sear that he once had a deep love affair with her and then her accused of being a "prostitute" has seriously affected her honor.
Lawyers are currently studying to gather more evidence to further the case.

#MeToo can be sum up as men bad, women good.
It's always more complicated than that. Sex, fame, greed, power, money etc.

In the local case it seems a bit of the same so it's hard to come to any conclusion which personally I won't.
#MeToo caught on in the west because the women were believed (that wasn't actually new) and a few ballsy prosecution authorities decided to go elephant hunting. Once they started getting kills every police force and prosecution authority started having lots of fun with the latest headline grabbing arrest and getting their melons on the telly.

No victims in the west were ever threatened with pre-trial detention for false accusations or draconian defamation laws. In Cambodia these countermeasures are very real, the people are scared of the, and for good reason.

I reckon there are isolated cases of nasty things happening in the West, Marilyn Monroe? A long tome ago I know but not impossible now.

As for MeToo, the casting couch was notorious and women accepted it for decades. Then all of a sudden they didn't. Fair enough. But casting decisions have to be made somehow and in an industry where there are thousands of desperate hopefuls so it is impossible to audition them all. Armchairlawyer predicts an increased in the number of daughters of the rich and famous getting into the industry and no prospects for the others. The casting couch was their only way in. Unintended consequences of MeToo.

So now we have thousands of hot young actresses, willing to do unspeakable things to win the tie-breaker, but not a film studio mogul in sight to take them up on the offer. What a sorry state of affairs.

Cambodian beauty queen Mean Pich Rita accuses tycoon Heng Sier of attempted rape, exposing silent stigma

After Pich Rita’s allegations were live-streamed on Facebook last week, the case ignited a debate on social media
Sier, a prominent businessman, claims Pich Rita stabbed him and sought to extort money from him after they had an affair

A high-profile court case in Cambodia involving a beauty queen and a tycoon last week set social media alight, provoking a heated debate about sexual assault, power and consent.

Mean Pich Rita, a second-year university student and a former competitor in Miss Grand Cambodia, was arrested and detained on May 8, accused of stealing an iPhone belonging to Heng Sier, a prominent businessman.

Sier, 60, has also accused Pich Rita, 20, of extorting money and stabbing him during an encounter in his car on May 4. In turn, Pich Rita claimed Sier had a gun in his car and accused him of sexual assault and attempting to rape her.

The allegations initially played out confidentially in a district police department and Phnom Penh municipal court, but captured public attention last week when former lawyer David Chanaiwa began live-streaming on Facebook the details of the case and Pich Rita’s accusations against Sier.

“What I’m trying to do [is] provide the information because I feel that this procedure is an injustice,” he said. “I believe [the authorities’ response] is unfair, because they came and picked her up from her home and detained her but the other guy [Sier], whom she accused, he is free.”

The posts went viral on May 11, after Chanaiwa shared a video of Pich Rita, also known as “Yubi”, crying on her mother’s shoulder after the court remanded her in pre-trial detention.

“I am disgusted with myself,” she said in the video. “When I close my eyes, I see him touching me. He had a gun and wanted to touch me. I was very scared. He wanted to hurt me.”

In response, Sier on Thursday released a statement claiming he had a relationship with Pich Rita before she demanded a large sum of money to end their alleged affair. He apologised to his wife and family but maintained Pich Rita attempted to injure him.

“She demanded cash, which was an extreme amount for ending a love relationship,” his letter said. “This made me unable to fulfil her desire, and I did not expect that she had a knife and would stab me shortly after.”

The court on Friday ordered Pich Rita’s release on bail and both the Women’s Affairs Ministry and Prime Minister HE’s volunteer lawyer team have committed to further investigation. Sier also publicly asked for the case to be adjourned. Local media have published photos of an injured man, purportedly Sier, lying in a hospital bed.

Pornographic images allegedly depicting Pich Rita, which she denied creating, were also circulated on social media. Authorities on Saturday arrested Sier’s daughter and son-in-law for fabricating the images.

MyTV, the entertainment company that employs Pich Rita as a TV presenter, has covered the case but Miss Grand Cambodia has made no statement. Cambodian celebrities, however, have weighed in on social media, circulating the hashtag #JusticeForYubi.

Actress and model Rachana Ravady urged her Facebook followers to protect women who allege sexual violence and assault, asking: “Why is it that every time there is a case of abuse of women, there is always some dissenting opinion, blaming the victim for coming from behind?”

Another actress, Vannak Bormey, posted a video that has attracted more than 100,000 views, addressing other women who doubt or reject claims of sexual assault.

“Since I’m one of the victims, I don’t hope that you understand our feelings, because we don’t want you to understand it,” she said. “But I hope you can use your voice as a woman to protect women.”

Socheata Hing, who works for the youth sexual health platform Dosslarb, said Cambodians have begun conversations about sexual assault and consent but those discussions are more difficult when power and money is involved.

“Women want to inspire one another to have the courage to speak up,” she said. “We still live in a conservative society that [means] victims don’t dare to speak up because they are afraid of being blamed, neglected or embarrassed.”

Pich Rita’s accusations against Sier are the latest allegations of powerful Cambodian men mistreating women.

Long read.
Summary of the events, with some new details, as reported by KBN News yesterday:

Image
Cambodia News, Phnom Penh: On the evening of May 14, 2021, Lawyer Ky Tech, Chairman of Samdech Volunteer Lawyers Group, told the media that Samdech Techo HE, the Prime Minister, had issued an order for Samdech Volunteer Lawyers to defend and seek justice for Miss Mean Pich Rita, the host of MY TV, who has a dispute with Duke Heng Sear.

Samdech Techo HE's order came after Duke Heng Sear, known as a major businessman, released a letter on May 13, 2021 claiming to have had a deep love affair with Miss Mean Pich Rita.

After that, some pornographic images were published by criminals, accusing them of being Mean Pich Rita. However, Mean Pich Rita categorically denied ever having a deep love affair and denied the photos were of her.

Through Samdech Techo's volunteer lawyer defending Miss Mean Pich Rita, who confirmed that the accusation of Duke Heng Sear that there was a deep love affair once accused of "prostitute" has seriously affected Her honor. Lawyers are now studying to gather more evidence to further the case.

It should be noted that on May 11, 2021, Ms. Song Chavoan, Deputy Prosecutor of the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, decided to charge a 20-year-old woman named Mean Pich Rita, alias Yubi, for "aggravated theft with violence, injuring a tycoon.

After the indictment, the accused shall be sent to the investigating judge to proceed with the proceedings. On the morning of May 11, 2021, the police of Tuol Kork District Police Inspectorate arrested a female suspect named Mean Pich Rita and sent her to the Phnom Penh Municipal Court for questioning in connection with a case of mobile phone theft and stabbing. A duke was injured.

According to the information from the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, the case of aggravated theft occurred on May 4, 2021 at 15:06 at the corner of Street 138, Street 259, Group 28, Village 10. Sangkat Toek Laak II, Khan Toul Kork, Phnom Penh. Defendant Mean Pich Rita, alias Yubi, stole a mobile phone from Tycoon Heng Sear, the owner of the phone, resulting in a scuffle that left Duke Heng Sear with two knife wounds.

On May 11, 2021, Mean Pich Rita alias Yubi, 20, a second-year business student, model and presenter on MyTV, filed a lawsuit against Heng Sear for "attempted aggravated rape”in the car.

In her complaint, Mean Pich Rita, alias Yubi, stated that on May 4, 2021, around 2-3 o'clock, Mr. Oknha Heng Sear called Ms. Mean Pich Rita, saying that he wanted to give her some items such as noodles, rice and fish sauce to distribute to people affected by Covid-19 and arranged to meet up with her. Then Duke Heng Sear forced her into his car, saying that he had something to talk about, and now Heng Sear said obscene things to her and touched her thighs and genitals. He has not had sex for a long time because his wife has not given him anything since the vaccination and now he wants to have sex and wants to take her to a guesthouse.

In her complaint, Mean Pich Rita continued that she then told Mr. Heng Sear not to do that, she jumped out of the car and asked her to return home, but Mr. Heng Sear said that he had a gun which scared her so much that she almost lost consciousness, and ran to the back seat of the car to escape…. If she could not run, Heng Sear wanted to rape her in the car….

In her complaint, Mean Pich Rita stated that she would like to respond by making the following demands:
1. Sues tycoon for "attempted rape" with aggravated circumstances
2. Claim for compensation of $ 100,000 (US $ 100,000)
3. Claim for loss and damage of time and legal services of $ 10,000 (ten thousand US dollars).
