Re: Medication Advice - Co-codamol
Knowing you as a relatively level headed, emotionally stable bloke, Yerg - i reckon you will be fine.
Most of the reservations expressed here are quite legit for some people, but you don't appear to be the kind of person that would start relying on this mid-level (only) painkiller as a crutch.
Painkillers have their place.
Stick to the script - and beware the doctor who is willing to keep re-prescribing it without giving you a good grilling.
just my unqualified view

Please tell me that you know Yerg personally.........and you're not making these asinine comments based purely on what you know of his online, CEO presence?SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 2:24 pm Knowing you as a relatively level headed, emotionally stable bloke, Yerg...

I'm sure Yerg is a decent chap but I wouldn't say any of the above if I didn't know him personally.

I dunno Brody. A man can get a pretty clear fix on a guy from what he posts. And the fact that Yerg even asked the question says a lot. And it's only codeine mixed with para isn't it? Dentists here routinely send you home with this stuff. We're not talking morphine.Brody wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 3:05 pmPlease tell me that you know Yerg personally.........and you're not making these asinine comments based purely on what you know of his online, CEO presence?SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 2:24 pm Knowing you as a relatively level headed, emotionally stable bloke, Yerg...

Bear in mind that many a junkie in the West has put on a good act to get a scrip from a GP.

It was OTC in Australia until recently.

Really?
To each his own then.
I love you guys but I sure wouldn't vouch for your personalities, mental well being and/or your propensity for addiction based on your posts on an obscure web forum.

Re: Medication Advice - Co-codamol
That is true and as others have stated, laxatives are required with that.timmydownawell wrote: ↑Thu May 13, 2021 1:19 pm I hate codeine, it's so hard on your gut. Ibuprofen is my preferred painkiller.
But from personal experience having had the flu twice in my life time (the latter maybe covid recently) and having had 2 wisdom teeth out a few years ago and Mrs Cargo having had dengue last year, the basic paracetamol and ibuprofen combo just doesn't cut it for severe pain and seems to me you don't have much choice but go down the paracetamol/codeine path to get through it. In all those instance it was temporary tho.. no longer than 4-5 days.
Wouldn't want to go much longer than that for sure..
Re: Medication Advice - Co-codamol
It's a really REALLY bad idea to abuse co codamol.
The paracetamol will cause massive liver damage if taken in sufficient quantity to have any recreational effect from the codeine.

Re: Medication Advice - Co-codamol
Thanks everyone for your input. The reason I asked here, is that I winged an educated guess that there may have been members with personal experience of taking Co-codamol. I much prefer to hear of real-life advice and experience than Dr. Google.
UPDATE: Clutch's reply was very useful, so I re-contacted my doctor about ligament/tendon. He was quite sure he said and meant ligament, but Clutch's description of rotator cuff damage was near enough exact to what I am having to deal with. (Much pain, limited movement and strength, inability to raise my arm above shoulder level.) Had my first physio appointment via ZOOM, and the exercises I have been given were pretty much as described by Clutch. A quick Prime order of stretch bands and I'm golden.
As for the painkillers, I decided to take them, as sleeping was becoming disjointed due to the pain. I'm glad I did. Took them a few times to get a decent night's sleep, and the box of 94 remaining pills is in the drawer for either the next time or, once this is all fixed, to follow Doc's advice and sell 'em down the boozer lol. Incidentally, I didn't need for a laxative, although I guessed this might have been for a more prolonged use of the pills??
Again, thanks everyone. Hope things begin to improve for you all in KOW ASAP. Roll on Monday 17th May when indoor custom in pubs is allowed, as the British Summer is non-existent and I'm getting tired of my pints in the rain.
