Cambodia News (Siem Reap): On April 30, 2021, a 52-year-old man, Eng Oeung, was arrested after killing his wife and burning the corpse at his farm in Knar Krao village, Svay Leu District, Siem Reap. The victim was identified as Ly Kolab, a 36-year-old woman, the suspect's wife.

The suspect confessed that on April 27, 2021, at 11:10 am, he murdered his wife at his house in Svay Lue district, Siem Reap. He confessed
that they had an argument, because his wife wanted to sell some land to get money for gambling, and he disagreed with her. The couple had a fight and the husband strangled his wife to death. After that, he wrapped the corpse in blue plastic, and at 4 am, he took the body to burn down at his farm.

The police are preparing the suspect's case for submitting to the court following the legal procedure.

In Cambodia confessions are nearly always obtained. Why? The methods are never made public.

Is it because most of the people are poor and cannot afford to lawyer up?

That’s true but the more pertinent reason is they are by and large a simple minded people, easily tricked & trapped by the most basic cross examination techniques.
she was quite pretty and looked older
she knew only what had been told her
