Its a number....not sure it relates to anything though.

A few weeks ago my khmer neighbor was in the Sen Sok detention centre. 8 died in that one centre on one day alone (he watched the corpses being carried out the the chiller). But, apparently according to published stats, country only had 5 deaths country-wide that day. Go figure. Must be the neighbor telling porkies.
You know that tingly little feeling you get when you really like someone? That's common sense leaving your body.

Cambodian Planning Fourth Doses for Frontliners
AKP Phnom Penh, December 23, 2021 --
Cambodia is preparing the 4th doses for the frontline officials and planning measures to prevent the national lockdown, said Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HE.

At the inauguration ceremony of the new office building of the General Department of Customs and Excise organised here this morning, Samdech Techo HE said the COVID-19 pandemic has so far killed more than 3,000 people in Cambodia, but if our national economy fails, it can affect the whole 16 million people.

The Prime Minister continued that more than 3 million people have already accessed the third doses of COVID-19 vaccine, while the fourth doses will be reserved for some 500,000 frontliners.

According to Samdech Techo HE, the fourth doses for the frontline officials will be Pfizer donated by Australia.

That's nice. All those crooked old farts in the government and civil service will be getting a shot of the good stuff courtesy of the Australian Taxpayer.

I found this which casts a slightly different hue on this announcement. It's 6 weeks old but hints at the backstory.

Foreign Minister Marise Payne is expected to visit Cambodia* after Prime Minister HE questioned Australia’s commitment to deliver on two million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine promised earlier this year.

“Australia had promised to donate the Pfizer vaccines and this was long overdue but if there is uncertainty about getting it, then our next decision is to buy the Sinovac vaccines,” HE told a televised press conference.

The want the Pfizer for themselves and need it so they can look good by giving away tiny donations of Sinovac to it's neighbours.

In recent weeks Phnom Penh has also donated 400,000 Sinovac doses to its neighbours Vietnam and Laos, which have struggled with their vaccination programs.

In the KT article, he says his 400 bodyguards have already received their fourth dose, lol. The definition of front-line workers can be interpreted in many ways I guess.

Meanwhile:

I like that they're being a bit more realistic about the economy though, realizing that it's of much more importance to the majority here. A lot more pragmatic in their approach vs a lot of other countries.
