This can’t be good
Particularly since almost 100 cases of foreign infections, (Covid cases from new arrivals into Cambodia), were declared officially by the MoH today.

The numbers have been hovering around the 500-800 new daily cases for several months now, which seems to be in direct contradiction to how outbreaks and waves are happening and have happened in other countries over the past 18 months.

Is it because of the limited number of tests being carried out here? And if so, how can we rely on these numbers being anywhere near accurate?

Or are the numbers pretty much accurate and for some reason, yet again, we have Cambodia in a unique situation whereby it is, for whatever reason, not following the norms expected?

Plus the SinoVac and SinoPham vaccines probably don't help either. With full vaccination efforts in the last few months, one would think the new infected cases and deaths should begin to show obvious down trend ...

Hardly anyone outside of Phnom Penh has been vaccinated. That's about 15 million out of 17 million people.

Nationally, as of the 16th, they had given 5.76m jabs, out of their target of 20m (i.e. vaccinating 10m people). They have been doing it outside of PP, I guess Shitsville is high on their agenda so they can start gambling again? They should really do SR.

More than 200,000 vaccinated in Sihanoukville, leaving another 190,000 to be inoculated

Preah Sihanouk provincial spokesman Kheang Phearum said that so far, more than 200,000 people in Preah Sihanouk province have been vaccinated, with 190,000 yet to be vaccinated.

Kouch Chamroeun, the governor, stated that only vaccination can reduce the transmission of Covid-19. Citizens of all ages living and working in Sihanoukville, including foreigners, will be vaccinated against Covid-19.

In Sihanoukville, more than 200,000 people over the age of 18 have been vaccinated, leaving about 190,000 remaining in the vaccination campaign, according to statistics from the police and planning department.

Cambodia To Get 5 More Million Doses Of COVID-19 Vaccines By July
ចេញផ្សាយ ថ្ងៃទី ១៩ ខែ មិថុនា ឆ្នាំ ២០២១
AKP Phnom Penh, June 19, 2021 --

Cambodia expected to get 5 more million doses of COVID-19 vaccines in July this year, underlined H.E. Dr. Yuok Sambath, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Health.

While welcoming the arrival of one million more doses of Sinovac vaccine Cambodia bought from China at Phnom Penh International Airport this morning, H.E. Dr. Yuok Sambath said Cambodia will receive 2 million more doses of Sinovac in the last week of June and 3 million others in July.

The Royal Government has already authorised the purchase of 3 more million doses of Sinovac, and the contract will be signed soon, she added.

With the newly arrived vaccines, Cambodia has got in total over 9 million doses of vaccines: 3.2 million doses of Sinopharm, 5.5 million doses of Sinovac, and 324,000 doses of AstraZeneca/SII (COVISHIELD).

As of June 18, the vaccination coverage against COVID-19 pandemic in Cambodia reached 32.58 percent of the planned 10 million people to be vaccinated. The figures from the National Ad-hoc Commission for COVID-19 Vaccination show that 3,257,857 people have got their first dose, of them 2,667,037 have already received their second jab.

According to this article they are aiming to vaccinate 13m people. I had thought the 10m figure seemed low, but they have a very young population here:

The Royal Government of Cambodia has launched a vaccination plan for about 13 million people aged 18 and over, equivalent to about 26 million doses of vaccine.
