china's tariffs and suspensions will ultimately hurt themselves most, as they need food and raw materials
but the govt needs to restrict or halt chinese inward investment in these areas
and perhaps harass existing investments
We'll have your wine, lamb and beef. In return we will sell you lamb, beef and whiskey. A perfect harmony of over-governed, over-taxed and welfare hobbled nanny states who can't keep their noses out of everyone's lives.
Australian and British trade negotiators will meet every Friday in anticipation for a new free trade deal to be signed in early June, according to Trade Minister Dan Tehan. Mr Tehan has just returned from a trip to the UK where he discussed vaccine protocols as well as continuing trade discussions. Australia and the UK have been in the midst of negotiating a free-trade deal after Britain left the European Union at the beginning of 2020. The trade minister told Sky News, the two nations are in the “last parts of the negotiation” and should be in a position to “ink a deal” in early June.

I think you will find that is easier said than done.Great move Australia, but unfortunately China still has the country under its thumb until something is done about the biggest export and money earner Iron Ore We all know that China will eventually use this as another punishment by buying iron ore from other sources

Australia halts direct flights from India until 15 May as country grapples with coronavirus surge
https://www.sbs.com.au/news/australia-h ... Nk36rnsDcAAustralia has banned passengers flights from India in response to the country's surging coronavirus outbreak - creating further uncertainty for Australians stranded abroad.
Australia will place a ban on all passenger flights coming from India in response to the country's devastating surge in COVID cases.
The flights will be suspended until 15 May. The decision came after a meeting of senior government ministers in the National Security Committee on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison said Australia is also preparing to send oxygen supplies, ventilators and personal protective equipment to India as part of an emergency response package.
In a nation run by swine, all pigs are upward-mobile and the rest of us are fucked until we can put our acts together: not necessarily to win, but mainly to keep from losing completely. HST

According to the 2021 Best Countries, Australia, where Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport is actually a love song, ranked #2 in agility (number 5 overall), that's a 'fair suck o' the sav' and essential to their current adaption.
Oz were a little behind in forward thinking, ranked #11, so they may not have had an exit plan, meaning their superior agility will have to be relied on.
The voters weren't swayed by their influence on other counties, at #16.
Oz travelled south to 18th spot in the Movers category, alighting from 5th fastest growing China, but should perhaps focus on number 2, India.
Aus are considered the 16th most powerful country, pissing off the 2nd most, and obviously, their 5 Eyes buddy, the US, holds top spot, so that could avert too much bullying. She'll be right.
Oz are the 12th most desirable country to take your business, yet they are a fair dinkum leader when it comes HQ destinations (flat out like a lizard drinkin', trying to work that out).
At the 22 spot, The Land of The Rock, wasn't favoured as a space to park your cash if your sights are set on healthy returns however, it seems the investor-savvy were focused on emerging countries and those with inevitably big economic bounces ahead, post-COVID.
Overall, the country, with its magnificent beaches, natural resources and perfect weather, that the POMs dropped the POMs off at, before return to Ol' Blighty's similar conditions was ranked, a cracker, 5th Best. Strewth!

In other news, this is so incredibly sad...
A former service member was filmed marching down a road in Perth in defiance of the lockdown restrictions that had prevented Anzac Day celebrations.
