How to get an older Khmer person vaccinated for Covid-19?
Hi everyone,
This is an unusual question and I don't think anyone has covered this here...but I was wondering about the process that Cambodian citizens must go through to get vaccinated.
I live with an elderly (75+) Cambodian family member who, undoubtedly like many her age, does NOT have a Khmer ID card (or number). She is of course listed in her Family Book and has her birth certificate (amazingly).
Is anyone aware of how she might go about getting her vaccinations?
It is my understanding that you have to have "a number" - usually passport or ID - in order to register.
But is it also possible that someone can rock up to Ang Duoung Hospital who is obviously in the at risk category and get a vaccine WITHOUT registering before hand?
Obviously under the circumstances, we would prefer NOT to take her up there just to "try and see". We have already called 115, and they could not give us an answer.
Any knowledge would be highly appreciated.

@JonnyBeeGee I've moved your post out of the General Vaccine News (Rest of the World) topic coz it might get lost in there and created a new topic under Ask the Expats (Questions & Answers) sub-section to give it more visibility and more likely to get answered. Hope that's OK.

I got my jab today, in Ta Khmau, the frail older people were not made to stand in line but were taken to the front of the line.
I would suggest you have a younger family member go to the hospital, later in the afternoon when the vaccines for the day are finished, with her paper work to ask their recommendation as what to do.
My wife was registered online by her brother in law and was given an official appointment. It is for tomorrow so we will see if it happens. If she gets the "jab" I'll post more info about the process here.

The landlord told my wife that through a family member we would be able to get the Astra Zeneca vaccine for $10. no waiting in line just show up and get the shot.
That is not what happened they received a call this morning and were told to go to the Chea Chumneas Hosptial, a small local hospital here in Ta Khmau.
When we arrived there was indeed lines one group in front for younger patients and one in the rear for us older patients.
My wife and the landlords son waited in the front line but it soon ran out of vaccine. The landlord and myself waited in the rear line for 64 and older patients.
After about an hours wait I was given the shot like the others. I was the only barrang in the group they checked my passport and asked where I lived as the shots were for local Ta Khmau residents only.
My wife who did not get here shot has another chance tomorrow at another location where her brother in-law got his vaccination.

That's really good news to hear beaker, long wait it seems but got your vaccination in the end. Hope your wife gets hers tomorrow.beaker wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 8:55 pmFrom what I understand;AndyKK wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 4:48 pmHi beaker, how was your vaccine and vaccination arranged?beaker wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 4:30 pm I got my jab today, in Ta Khmau, the frail older people were not made to stand in line but were taken to the front of the line.

Tell me, do you think there's any truth in what you have been told about the $10 sale?

I'm not sure but the story is that they work as or for a doctor and were allowed to have a small amount of vaccine for family members.AndyKK wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 9:26 pmThat's really good news to hear beaker, long wait it seems but got your vaccination in the end. Thanks for the suggestion about the younger family member going the day before. Will do that when things calm down a bit.beaker wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 4:30 pm I got my jab today, in Ta Khmau, the frail older people were not made to stand in line but were taken to the front of the line.
