16 Yo Boy Killed 13Yo Girl with a Hammer

Cambodia News (Siem Reap): According to the information from lieutenant Teth Narong, the police chief, on April 14, 2021,the police force arrested a 16-year-old male suspect who murdered a 13-year-old Vietnamese girl, Vieng Thiekimouy, on April 13, 2021, at 4 pm, in Math Klar village, Chikreng district, Siem Reap.

The suspect confessed to the police that he killed the victim in a fit of anger because she insulted him. He picked up a hammer to hit the victim on the head, causing her to die.

After the confession, the police prepared the suspect's case for submission to the court on April 15, 2021.

Just unbelievable. The violence stemming from a perceived slight never ceases to amaze me.

But I think that the problem with everyday violence goes further than gender violence, and there is a real need for Cambodians to learn how to address and deal with frustration in a non-violent manner.

"Vietnamese" as in Vietnamese nationals, or Vietnamese as in ethnic Vietnamese who were brought up and live in Cambodia ?

I said "Cambodian" because I didn't want to say that Cambodian violence is a specific Khmer ethnic problem. Minority populations in Cambodia seem to suffer from the same social problems as the Khmer majority. (My opinion only, I don't have facts or figures at my fingertips.)
