2 fugitive criminals caught in Cambodia

(ANSA) - ROME, APR 14 - Italian and Cambodian police on Wednesday arrested two Italian fugitive criminals convicted of sexual violence against a minor and financial offences respectively.
Antonello Marras, 45, from Ozieri near Sassari, and Christian Casagrande, 45, from Pordenone, were caught in Cambodian capital Phnom Penh after Marras was lured to the local immigration office with a ruse, police said.
Interpol helped track the pair down.
Marras was sentenced in 2003 to eight years and eight months in jail for sexual violence against a minor while Casagrande, sought since 2017, must serve remaining prison time of 13 years for a series of financial crimes ranging from aggravated extortion to counterfeiting credit cards.
Authorities said extradition proceedings would soon begin for the pair. (ANSA).

Wanted Italian fugitive, Christian Casagrande
Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On April 13, 2021, at 7:30 pm, the police arrested an Italian man, CHRISTIAN CASAGRANDE, 45 years old, who was involved in kidnapping people for money in Sangkat Katab 1, Khan Meanchey, Phnom Penh.

The local police said Katab 1 police in Khan Porsenchey collaborated with the Department of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime of the Ministry of Interior, led by Lieutenant Aum Ponlok, the deputy director of the department, in the arrest of an Italian man who was involved in a kidnapping.

The suspect, who also appears to be staying in Cambodia on an expired passport, was sent to the Department of Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime in the Ministry of Interior to follow the legal action.

The capture took place in Phnom Penh. The 45-year-old Sardinian was caught thanks to a ruse, after being lured with an excuse to the local immigration office.

MA was sentenced in 2020 by the Milan Court of Appeal to eight years and eight months in prison for sexual violence against minors.

CC., Wanted since 2017, must instead serve a residual sentence of 13 years for a series of financial crimes ranging from complicity in aggravated extortion to forgery of credit cards.

The Italian authorities will ask for extradition for both.
