Booze in Kandal

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. Been confused about this...

Is it a ban on additional stock purchases? Or is it a ban on sales to direct consumers?

What's so confusing about it, the directive is pretty clear ...

1. All states (?), supermarkets, marts, restaurants, cafes, food stalls, cafes, cafes, and food and beverage businesses of all kinds are temporarily suspended from selling all kinds of alcohol for two (2) weeks. From April 11, 2021 to April 24, 2021.

Getting clearer, ... so far, this is what I infer from the press releases ...

- Fulfilment of past orders placed is still allowed provided the sale concluded before the start of the ban.
- Sales to direct consumers is banned.
- There is no restriction on private consumption in private events and functions, provided proof is available of purchase date.
- No framework yet.

Not sure if I'm reading the wording right, but if this is the case then it's quite a relaxed ban.

Much less restrictive than Singapore at the least.

Hope it works for Phnom Penh. Might reduce the potential spreads, while not harming businesses too much.
