The real expert
Many thanks to those of you who enjoyed my posts on arranged marriages and the idioms and rural style of speaking in our village that I offered. However, the real thanks is due to my wife, Kheang, who has patiently stood by me as I stumbled over the culture, leaving a trail of faux pas along the way and for patiently repeating and repeating words from the new language that my tongue and teeth stumbled over, searching in vain for the correct places and points of articulation. Without her, these posts of mine would never have seen the light of day. I waited a long time for a life partner and I couldn't have found better anywhere else in the world. So, those thanks belong to her. I did however play an important part in bringing forth our two children. And NO, our marriage was anything but arranged.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

I have never imagined my life to be anything other than what it was. But this is the best of all the things I never imagined. Her softness takes the edge off the sharp realities of Cambodian life.rozzieoz wrote:Awww how lovely I bet growing up you never imagined your life now

@ taabarang, your wife is not only wife and mother, but also a best teacher. Like Cambodian saying " Som Lar Chhnganh pros kreung krousar roung pros peak ri yea jea "
កុំស្លាប់ដូចពស់ កុំរស់ដូចកង្កែប
Re: The real expert
Taabarang you have the best wife and teacher.

If you know a lot, know enough to make them respect you, if you are stupid, be stupid enough so they can pity you.

There is a zen saying I like very much, 'When the student is ready, the teacher will appear." Maybe it was like that.
