Phnong Youths Arrested for Violent Rampage
Cambodia News, (Mondulkiri): On Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at 21:00, at Pong Ngol village, Memang commune, Keo Seima district, Mondulkiri province, there was a report of a case of intentional violence caused by a group of 9 gangsters riding 5 motorbikes armed with samurai swords and sticks, causing beatings and chases.
A 23 year old construction worker, currently living in Pur Ngol village, Memang commune, Keo Seima district, Mondulkiri province, was attacked and injured in the back under the right shoulder, by a sword cut that is 10cm long, 1cm deep.
The gangsters, after committing acts of violence, drove off on 5 motorbikes and escaped until 7:30am on March 31, 2021, when Keo Seima District Police Inspectorate and the other local authorities conducted a joint operation to arrest them.
The gang members are all youths belonging to the Phnong indigenous ethnic minority, also called Bunong, Punong or Pnong.
1. Name: San Sok, Male, 23 years old, Ethnic Phnong, Occupation: Farmer.
2. Name: Nhev That, Male, 23 years old, Nationality: Phnong, Occupation: Farmer.
3. Name: Srey Krong, Male, 20 years old, Ethnic Phnong, Occupation: Farmer.
4. Name: Blue Yin, Male, 18 years old, Ethnic Phnong, Occupation: Farmer.
5. Name: San Thoeun, Male, 14 years old, Ethnic Phnong, Occupation: Farmer.
6. Name: Thun Blon Pros, 19 years old, Occupation: Farmer.
7. Name: Kate Lipo, Male, 18 years old, Ethnic Phnong, Occupation: Farmer.
8. Name: Blue Nin, Male, 18 years old, Occupation: Farmer.
The eight suspects, currently living in Pou Ke village, Memang commune, Keo Seima district, Mondulkiri province, had their three motorcycles confiscated. Meanwhile, police are still searching for an accomplice who escaped, Nhek Salia.
