Cambodia News, (Preah Sihanouk Province): Mr. Nong Dinara, the director of the Sihanoukville Provincial Office, posted on his official Facebook page yesterday that two planes of Chinese workers, 193 Chinese nationals from Chengdu District, China, and 191 others from Guangdong Province, entered Cambodia through Sihanoukville Airport, Sihanoukville Province, on the 17th March, 2021.

Mr Nong Dinara said that as a rule, foreign guests who come to our country must all have a certificate showing a negative Covid test from their country within 72 hours by the time they arrive in Cambodia. After this, on arrival, there is a mandatory quarantine period of 14 days before the new arrivals can take up their employment or activities in the Kingdom.

On the face of it, the idea that it’s worth sending so many workers to a foreign country, to sit in 2 weeks mandatory quarantine. Because that’s going to happen, right?

Workers doing what? Presumably the type of work where each one can maintain the appropriate social distancing type measures that the government has been encouraging people to keep to help stop the spread of nasty bugs.

So,
carrying long planks of wood. Maximum 2 people
Folding long blankets
Stealing longish lengths of wire

Jobs not appropriate
6-person pall bearer squads
Close hand to hand combat and self defence demonstrations
Personal shopper
Massage

Presumably, they each have a particular set of skills, acquired over long professional careers. Skills not found in the kingdom. Is the plane full of pro’s? Will next weeks headline be one of a large number of Chinese being deported, undergoing more quarantine, being hunted due to another outbreak?

The economy must be overheating if they can't find local workers but instead have to fly them in from Chengdu and Guangdong.

I think we all know that these Chinese projects end up requiring Chinese employment for the good of China where it could instead fund local work.

Why are 400 chinese allowed to fly in here when they restrict movements of Cambodian nationals in their own country?

Yep, nothing at all strange for extra chinese workers to be brought in to serve the ever increasing chinese presence there.. 8)
