Life changes since Feb 20

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Life changes since Feb 20

Post by KTabi »

I made the ill fated decision to come to Cambodia some time soon right before Feb 20 and now that's looking a bit optimistic in the year. What's it looking like on the ground currently? How have thing changed where you are in Cambodia? Any stories about stuff happening since then in your circle of family and friends? The news makes it look pretty dire.

This forum has a lot of talk about long quarantines, businesses going kaput, and upcoming covid restrictions. I get the impression that the news is pretty on point. But at least it's not Myanmar.

Fair enough on Myanmar lol. I heard the stories of being locked inside apartment complexes for weeks on top of the two week quarantine prior. The guys saying not to come for now were spot on.

It is pretty dire. Fear has taken over for now.

Yeah tbh I'm a bit depressed about it all. Defeats the purpose of living here, lol. Can't travel, work has become pretty monotonous as of late, and not much to do since most things of interest to me are closed.

I mean it's not the end of the world, and I'm not that bothered, but it does suck. I think everyone is on the same page regarding that. You wouldn't have been able to enter the country without a proper job ligned up anyways. They're not about to start hiring teflers anytime soon, and there's a bit of a hiring freeze in most industries as you can imagine.

On a positive note, the traffic is light!
