Horror: Man Beheads Child in Kampong Speu

Cambodia Breaking News, (Kampong Speu): On the afternoon of March 14, 2021, in Ampil Paem village, Roleang Chak commune, Samrong Tong district, Kampong Speu province, a shocking event occurred when a man attacked and beheaded a child with a knife. The child died immediately.
The killer has not been named, but he is suspected to suffer from extreme mental illness.

Authorities arrived at the scene and have arrested the suspect. The motive for the barbarous act is not yet known.

As horrific and disturbing as this report is, added to that is the almost casual occurrence of brutality towards children. If I’m not mistaken, this is the second similar case in only a few weeks. The previous one being some sort of intra-family revenge.

I find it hard to accept such things being so easily attributed to mental illness on the part of the perpetrator. Surely, ( and I know I’m applying my own sensibilities) such mental illness should be obvious and preclude leaving such people alone with, or with access to anyone, let alone children. It’s beyond neglect.

In this country you cannot have the death penalty. They arbitrarily jail people for political ideologies and crimes like throwing a shoe at a sign. Imagine giving them the death penalty.
