Psychologist/Psychiatrist Phnom Penh English?
Re: Psychologist/Psychiatrist Phnom Penh English?
Oh thank you, I have no serious urgent need. What you say makes a lot of sense so I should probably seek a domestic solution. I was simply curious if such a thing existed in Cambodia.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 5:26 amI reckon i am still half sane because my primary treatment has always been to religiously stay away from ALL of the medical profession's phsyco approaches. (except counselling, which is not real Modern Medicine anyway)
Not one single one of their happy pills. or chemical chemical restrains or Broadmoors.
That's just me (!!) but it proves that i am not really qualified by experience to answer your enquiry.
However, speaking generally - i do know that western doctors have always been very dismissive of non-western doctors. For some valid reasons, some spurious.
Some doctors or bureaucrats may give validity to the diagnosis IF the asian Dr was trained in the West.
Sometimes not even then. Especially a Cambodian Dr's diagnosis, i would think.
Personally, i reckon any physiological diagnosis or treatment can only be done by somebody fully au fait with the culture you come from yourself.
Otherwise no way they are going to give you a meaningful analysis of your issues. They won't have the same yardsticks to measure your thinking/behaviour/symptoms.
I hope it goes well - (if you are sincere)

lol I hate to agree with the sentiment, I figured perhaps there could be a westerner practicing for some odd reason there that could have some credibility.

Yes, that's the place. Last time I checked all the people who worked there were licensed professionals with high credentials. I'm not sure if there's a Cambodian association/licensing agency of sorts though. Most of their staff are foreign as you can imagine. Rates aren't cheap, but sort of negotiable depending on your income. No psychiatrists though I think (if looking for advice on medication). I just contacted them around two years ago so not sure about the current situation, but it's worth maybe giving them a call.KTabi wrote:Is this what you were referring to?Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Tue Mar 09, 2021 9:11 pm There's a place called Bamboo which offers counseling/psychological services in English.

I should have said that my other requirement is that they are licensed if such a thing exists, ie they could diagnose and you could take this diagnosis abroad with it being taken seriously.

Re: Psychologist/Psychiatrist Phnom Penh English?
I met a band of wandering headshrinkers and therapists in Kampot lately. They were all nuts.
Flippers, Irish, Yank, and Thai I think.
Working in same practice in PP. I can't remember the name, but can't reccomended. Lunatics.
Many people reccomended "the beekeeper" phnom penh for head shrinking but no direct experience, so can vouch for them either

The fact you consider such a thing probably makes you more balanced and forward thinking than the average expat still here. Many don't even have medical insurance or a slush fund for such emergencies.KTabi wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 7:23 amOh thank you, I have no serious urgent need. Much thanks for the tip. It's just nice to know the options. Very appreciated.Bitte_Kein_Lexus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 8:50 amYes, that's the place. In my last run through Southeast Asia I do worry for some folks that I saw lol. I feel like their pizza and beer fund could earn them some security in savings but who am I?

That would be "the other forum", AKA TOF.SternAAlbifrons wrote: ↑Wed Mar 10, 2021 4:49 am Just flash your CEO membership card.
That's diagnostic proof in anybody's language and will gain you admittance to any suitable institution.
