Last of the Wailers has died

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

Last of the Wailers has died

Post by hanno »

The Wailers were omnipresent when I grew up in Kenya, and rightly so; great music:

The real stuff, unlike the (mostly) crap Reggae played in backpacker hostels around the world.

Bunny was the last of the founding member Wailers.

I'm happy to say that Aston Family Man Barrett (bassist with Bob Marley & The Wailers from 1969) is still alive.

As for the others: Carlton Barrett and Tosh (both murdered) died in 1987, Braithwaite (also murdered) in 1999, Smith in 2008,, Earl Lindo in 2017. Beverley Kelso is the only surviving member of the group's original line-up (but not considered a Wailer I guess).

That was 1979 in Auckland. Bunny had left the group in 1974.

BTW, Junior Marvin was the lead guitarist in Auckland, as he was at the Rainbow in London in 1977, where Live at the Rainbow was recorded. Marvin is still alive.

I saw the Wailers four times. 1974, 1977 and 1981, then in 2010 in Pattaya, only Aston Barrett remained of the 1970s guys.

Always "hope" but never "expect".
