Last of the Wailers has died

"... bound to glory"
The real stuff, unlike the (mostly) crap Reggae played in backpacker hostels around the world.
'Totally agree, Hanno.
They became too packaged and formularised for me. With all the depth of a catchy pop song.
I reckon that is why they haven't "aged" well.
Most of the BM/W stuff that i hear nowadays sounds great - for about a half a song at most.

But trawling thru UberTube tonight i found some early stuff, mostly from live shows, that was much more raw and natural.
That "catchy" rhythm is then coming from a groove deep within these guy's souls - not just a repetitive pop beat.
A good reminder of how they caught us in the first place.

That was 1979 in Auckland. Bunny had left the group in 1974.

BTW, Junior Marvin was the lead guitarist in Auckland, as he was at the Rainbow in London in 1977, where Live at the Rainbow was recorded. Marvin is still alive.

I saw the Wailers four times. 1974, 1977 and 1981, then in 2010 in Pattaya, only Aston Barrett remained of the 1970s guys.
Just watch the video wow the Herbs seen them in nz and pubs in sydney now I am feeling old, thanks for the memories
