Cambodia News (Phnom Penh): On the afternoon of March 2, 2021, at 4:30 pm, an unidentified American man, aged about 50 years old, was found dead in room no. 278, at Hai Liang Ming Zhu Hotel, Khan Beung Keng Kong, Phnom Penh.

The source said that when the guest didn't come out of his room as usual, the hotel owner went to knock on the door of the room to see if he had any problem, but there was no response. Then, they unlocked the door and found that the victim had passed away. The hotel security reported the fact to the police immediately.
The specialist police went to the scene to examine the body. Dr. Norng Sovannaroth, the autopsist, concluded that the victim died of a stroke.

The body was taken to keep at Teuk Thlar pagoda, waiting for the embassy to notify the man's family.
RIP, and condolences to his family and friends.

This is my first post but I've been reading CEO for years. "Long-time lurker" is a bit of an understatement.

I saw the name was released as JONATHAN TODD CLINARD, 58. A quick Google search returned some odd results.

First, a fraud alert related to this: https://www.bernardcorporation.de/post/ ... dd-clinard

Which is related to this: https://cases.justia.com/texas/first-co ... 1396150336

I don't know the Bernard Corporation, but it's also connected to Asian Pacific Development Corporation (APDC). A company with the same name lost its ABN in 2001 if it's the same group:
https://abr.business.gov.au/ABN/View/20097275655

Here's the homepage for APDC e-Commerce page: https://asiapacificdevelopmentcorporati ... e-commerce.
I particularly enjoyed their convert sea-salt to gold and other precious metals investment video.

Here are some of their many projects: https://asiapacificdevelopmentcorporati ... m/projects
It appears that they are offering retirement packages to abandoned Chinese cities.

The whole thing seems like a boiler-room webpage to me. Actually, it reads like it's a joke webpage. But I don't get the joke. All this rests on the assumption that JONATHAN TODD CLINARD, 58, is the same man in the photos who works for APDC, named JONATHAN TODD CLINARD, who is also the same man in the photo from the Bernard Group fraud page.

I wish I had the time to check all this more closely, so my apologies if I'm missing something obvious and unintentionally painting this person in a bad light. If that's the case, I'll gladly delete this post and go back to lurking in the shadows.

Hi,

I think that it was over-looked during a busy COVID week, but the name was added a day or two later to the story, which was unassuming on its own:

[CNE link removed]

I think a Google search for anyone seriously interested in wanting to know about this more will produce results that lead to more questions.

Thanks Chaz, 'interesting tale.

Not sure i would describe him as a fraudster.
Claiming to be a trillionaire x 2.7, and presenting a poorly forged cheque to Well Fargo for $5 billion and asking for a quick clearance.

More like a flippin' idiot.
He seems to be more realistic at other times tho' - only shooting for $500 mill.
