Vaccine Distribution Rant....

This is where our community discusses almost anything! While we're mainly a Cambodia expat discussion forum and talk about expat life here, we debate about almost everything. Even if you're a tourist passing through Southeast Asia and want to connect with expatriates living and working in Cambodia, this is the first section of our site that you should check out. Our members start their own discussions or post links to other blogs and/or news articles they find interesting and want to chat about. So join in the fun and start new topics, or feel free to comment on anything our community members have already started! We also have some Khmer members here as well, but English is the main language used on CEO. You're welcome to have a look around, and if you decide you want to participate, you can become a part our international expat community by signing up for a free account.

Vaccine Distribution Rant....

Post by Jcml19 »

Year now and we're still locked down like prisoners.... I just don't understand why the powers that be can't figure out how to purchase/distribute the bloody vaccine quickly so life can get back to some semblance or "normal"... Boris J mucked stuff up early on but has drastically turned the corner in getting UK vaccinated... USA is finally getting it's crap together... BB is rocking out the vaccination...

Then you have the peeps that make you go huh??? Looking at you Germ, Fran, Thai, Sugah... Not a sophisticated eco/soc analysis but if BB dropped massive $$$ to purchase the vac and distributed the heck out of it to it's peeps... now implementing the app to allow peeps to go about normalcy.... The approach imo is awesome bc you either pay in the front end or pay in the backend e.g. loans/handouts to failing biz..

Sort of common sense, spend a crap load up front is better than spending a crap load on the backend through handouts... the privacy thing is sort of nonsense bc the ask is would you rather lockdown for 2-5 years or would you prefer the right to choose to get vaccinated and live a somewhat normal life.... society will never get back the 1 year locked down.... im sure if you quantify the value it would be agagillion...

Can't figure out why there is such a delay in certain places ... Is it because of the monetization of local distribution of the vaccine??? It just doesn't make sense bc you have industries hemorrhaging massive amounts of $$$ - case in point airline company losing 5 bil.... crap is crazy... Buy the vac and stick it to peeps!!!!

my apologies for the rant.... just sik of the lockdown and total nonsense.... wonder where i can get a refund for this year ??? %) %)

Maybe the larger western societies have become too big and too complex to function at their best?
That is one thing that Covid has really highlighted, i reckon.

All of the different aspects of Covid have demanded a really good execution - one that you can't fudge.
And this is just not happening in the larger Free nations.

This is not taking a shot. I genuinely wonder if the complexities of organising our modern free societies have outgrown our ability to manage them. ??
That is what the (excellent) OP ^^^ says to me - and seeing nearly everything else that has happened around Covid.

'Easy in a dictatorship or one party state of course, but i ain't recommending that.

There won't be "normal life" anymore, the vaccine won't change that.

You seem to be looking at this from an alien perspective. You're obviously not in Cambodia so where are you and why do you think this is relevant to us? 8)

This seems predicated on the idea that there’s a vaccine factory sat idle because they haven’t had enough orders in.

The countries getting their vaccines quickly are the ones making it themselves or that collaborated on phase 3 testing.

I think he means Benjamin Netanyahu, aka Bibi.

His writing style gives me a headache.
