NEWS: E-type (Ordinary) Visa available online

Do you have a Cambodian trip report you want to share? Post it here, and feel free to link to your blog if it's a travel blog for Cambodia, South East Asia, or anywhere really. You can ask and answer questions about travel advice in Cambodia or just share your pictures and videos with us. Most people who live in or visit Cambodia have also checked out nearby countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, and you can get to most of these countries by traveling overland, so put any travel plans, reviews or questions here. Discussions about dirt bike trails in here as well.

Information received that Taiwanese passport holders have been aware that this option would be available to them for a while due to Cambodian Embassies refusals to issue visas to TW passport holders.

Possibly a loophole for the Govt to grant visas to Taiwanese pp holders without upsetting China, as China requested Cambodia back in 2019.

Will have to wait and see whether they open this up to passport holders from other countries. I have not yet received a response to email enquiries, probably will never get one.

Would be a great time to introduce a special tourist visa that has the same requirements minus the proof of employment or investment and allows a non extendable 90 days stay.

(Just daydreaming, obviously!)

E-, Ordinary, often incorrectly referred to as Business visa.

But still, one group of people not catered for in any way whatsoever is the family member, who is not a Cambodian, is not retired, and does not work in Cambodia.
From what I can determine, there are a few of us, so not some massive drain on the system. But the government doesn’t seem to recognise the possibility.

I agree...There has been discussion about this within the Department of Immigration for some time, and they are currently in the process of drafting an update Immigration law, hopefully they will introduce a marriage/family type Visa or EOS category.

That would be a huge leap forward in my book.

@PSD-Kiwi, I see your post about the Taiwanese has disappeared. Are we still awaiting word on whether the online E Type visa is restricted or wide open? Certainly would be a major disappointment is it's restricted, although that makes no sense to put it online so boldly for one nationality.

A step back to normal. Interesting to see Cambodia is ahead of the West in this case since they seem to have no exit strategy at all.

Must have been deleted by the admins/mods, I certainly didn't remove it. No notification to inform me of why it was removed though.

Still limited to TW passport holders, I have not yet received any response to my enquiries. Will update when I have more info.

If I remember reading rightly, there are a few members here that had retirement visas , bought property and have girlfriends or support family. Looks like they dont qualify for a E type visa so it can be later changed to a retirement visa.

I think that's right. If a member on a retiree visa extension is overseas when it expires, they can't come back in on this E visa to later extend for retiree. If their retiree visa extension hasn't run out though they're fine to come back on that subject to the other entry requirements. I think you must be in KOW to renew the retiree extension (you can't do it overseas at the Cambodia embassy).
