Owning a business / work permits in Cambodia
Anyone know if owning a Pty Ltd in Cambodia exempts/entitles one to a work permit?

I'm fairly certain that does NOT except you from needing to have a work permit in Cambodia.StroppyChops wrote:Anyone know if owning a Pty Ltd in Cambodia exempts/entitles one to a work permit?

Cool - any thoughts on whether it is sufficient grounds for gaining one?General Mackevili wrote:I'm fairly certain that does NOT except you from needing to have a work permit in Cambodia.StroppyChops wrote:Anyone know if owning a Pty Ltd in Cambodia exempts/entitles one to a work permit?

A post from krisduncs over on 440 months ago reported that he was told he didn't need one (for rusty keyhole in Kampot).

Yeah, there might not be a solid answer, in practice.MekongMouse wrote:A post from krisduncs over on 440 months ago reported that he was told he didn't need one (for rusty keyhole in Kampot).
I did think I saw that anyone involved in business here needs one, technically. Anyways has. However, I could be wrong.

Re: Owning a business / work permits
Our Khmer partner has gotten more confident interacting with the government, at least on the phone. I'll ask him to look into it and report back.

I own a pty/ltd company/business. I was told I need a work permit as I have an E class visa, regardless of wether or not I worked. I also needed one as I owned the company they said. They asked for the details/passport of the other shareholder, but were satisfied when I told them he lives in Australia.
I was told this by a group of immigration police and Deputy Director of the Labour Dept that visited me last week.

Yep. That sounds like the most "official" answer that I can recall hearing. Thx.LaudJohn wrote:I own a pty/ltd company/business.
