Cambodia's Quarantine and Lockdown Escapees (Regular Updates)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Surely, it strikes like there was another reason for payment. Because that would be the lowest form of corruption for these security people to do. It is more than morally wrong.
I would like to here a follow up to the story, and see why and what it is all about.
The locals live with corruption at all levels on a daily basis.

The security people would say they aren’t getting work anywhere else and need to make end meet, too. With the lack of jobs I wouldn’t be surprised if they had to pay bribes to just be security in the quarantine area.

I hope there is a follow up to this story, too. But I doubt it. Bad news can be career ending for a local governor. (Missus’ thoughts)

It’s certainly not a disappointing vision, and surely makes the work of the the poor sods having to very slowly and meticulously take her details, a more tolerable task.

I see lots of shirts with legends on them that make no sense, just a word salad. The wearer doesn't read English so doesn't have a clue. Things like, "Me never, you too" or "It always knows what it always thinks". That kind of thing.

It's like those old dodgy Chinese symbol tattoos that probably mean chicken chow mein.

Hilariously common here, too. Plus random Iron Maiden t-shirts on teenage girls.

Always "hope" but never "expect".
