Cambodia's Quarantine and Lockdown Escapees (Regular Updates)

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

The man was arrested after posting a video on Facebook while driving and using inappropriate language and posing as a general.

One year in Prey Sar eh? They are not pissing around at the moment.

I wonder what the going rate is for a bit of bootlegging booze and/or being caught out drinking with others?

Sort of doubtful. Normally there's a six month wait before you get to court and I'm sure they could buy there way out in any case. Of course they won't be reporting that as you aren't allowed to mention that the courts are corrupt.

Cambodians complain of lockdown hunger as outbreak takes toll on poor

Residents in Cambodia's capital gathered on Friday to demand food from the government, outraged at what they called inadequate aid distribution during a tough COVID-19 lockdown that bars people from leaving their homes...

Amnesty International on Friday called Cambodia's lockdown an emerging humanitarian and human rights crisis, with nearly 294,000 people in Phnom Penh at risk of going hungry.

"The Cambodian government's outrageous mishandling of this COVID-19 lockdown is causing untold suffering and sweeping human rights violations," Yamini Mishra, its Asia-Pacific regional director, said in a statement.

Yes, but according to most posters here, this is a price worth paying to keep Covid at bay.
