No country will still be waiting for mass vaccination beyond the end of 2022, probably sooner. I have no idea where these figures have come from.

There is a pretty strong international consensus that no country is safe until every country is safe. The longer the virus is allowed to hang around, no matter where it is, the more likely it is to continue to mutate and create more problems for everyone. It's why rich countries, including the UK just today, are pledging lots of support for developing countries to get them vaccinated as soon as possible.

That graph makes no sense to me.

I followed what I think is the cited source: https://www.eiu.com/n/85-poor-countries ... -vaccines/
With priority groups vaccinated in rich economies by end-March, The EIU expects global economic prospects to brighten from mid-2021.

For most middle-income countries, including China and India, the vaccination timeline will stretch to late 2022.

Finally, some other middle-income countries and most low-income countries will be relying on COVAX, an initiative led by the WHO that aims to secure 6bn doses of vaccine for poorer countries. The first 2bn of these will be given in 2021, mainly to healthcare workers (COVAX doses will cover only up to 20% of the population of each country). However, COVAX supplies may be slow to arrive, especially if delays in the production for and delivery to richer countries push back delivery dates for poorer nations. In these developing countries, widespread vaccination coverage will not be achieved before 2023, if it happens at all.
I don't see anything in there about 2024 or later.

One interesting point it made is that of those emerging or developing economies, the ones who were involved in vaccine testing or manufacture (eg Brazil) will get priority, so it follows that countries like Cambodia will be very much last in line for the 6 billion required (pairs of) doses; they're not a vaccine manufacturer, they didn't run any trials, they don't have the money to outbid anyone, and so far they haven't had any covid deaths (that we know of).

It would be surprising if they didn't ease up restrictions a little at some point this year though, e.g. vaccine certificate + negative test gets you in.

What a crazy notion, the vast majority will never travel overseas again, many western countries the US and Ireland are two examples refuse to issue new passports or renew expiring ones.

He's being melodramatic. The Irish passport office is still taking applications, but because the office itself is on lockdown there's a delay processing non-emergency applications. To say "refusing to issue" is a gross mischaracterisation. They're still issuing emergency passports, still accepting applications, and have committed to processing them all within 20 days of the lockdown going from level 5 to level 4.

Vietnam has FOUR vaccines under development. The first one has already started Phase 1 trials (Dec. 2020) and expects to start mass manufacturing in May. Plus, it has a deal for 30 million AZ doses to be delivered through all 4 quarters of 2021. So yeah, 2022 Q2 is just silly.
