Expected Covid vaccination roll out by AAPA

Yeah, that place out 'there'. Anything not really Cambodia related should go here.

The Ministry of Health said that between 10 February and 19 February, 2021 a total of 4,609 civilians, including front liners, government officials and journalists have been inoculated. Of these, 1,603 were females.

.

Meanwhile the Ministry of Defence announced that between the same period, 10 February to 19 February, 2021, a total of 17, 052 security personnel have been inoculated. Of these number, there were 1214 females.

Thus, as of 20 January, 2021, 3.65 percent of the vaccines have been utlised, out of the 600,000 doses received from China on 7 February, 2021.

Ok . in nine (9) days they have inoculated 21000 persons.
If we consider that they will inoculate 10 million persons it will take over 11 years.

While it’s taken 9 days (and might well be dismissed as Cambodia time) for 21000 vaccinations, they’re still setting up. Every country is still setting up. Many countries are still working out or arguing about what might be the best way to handle the outbreak in the first place. Politics, bureaucracy, legislation etc. Once the supply, staff and support is setup, it should become a lot more...swift.

It would do Cambodia well to look at the opportunity available to resurrect, and improve their approach to tourism now, while they aren’t dealing with disparate groups of frustrated travellers. At present, there’s a bloody big airport being built.

Vietnam has FOUR vaccines under development. The first one has already started Phase 1 trials (Dec. 2020) and expects to start mass manufacturing in May. Plus, it has a deal for 30 million AZ doses to be delivered through all 4 quarters of 2021. So yeah, 2022 Q2 is just silly.

There is a pretty strong international consensus that no country is safe until every country is safe. The longer the virus is allowed to hang around, no matter where it is, the more likely it is to continue to mutate and create more problems for everyone. It's why rich countries, including the UK just today, are pledging lots of support for developing countries to get them vaccinated as soon as possible.

That graph makes no sense to me.
7 billion people.
2 shots per person.

How many shots can be produced per day?

All countries might want to vaccinate as fast as possible, but production and distribution will be quite a task which will take years. Even in my country, The Netherlands, where 200.000 vaccinations are given out per week everyone will be vaccinated in July 2023 at the current speed.

I doubt they will ever give the vaccine to expats. We’re at the bottom of the pecking order.

What was the expiration date again?

VN has said it has a deal for 50 million to 150 million Sputnik V doses, plus it plans a deal with Pfizer and the Chinese. And it has dibs on 15.6 million doses from the COVAX program. So it should be well vaccinated by the end of the year.

The problem isn't even the availability of the vaccine at this stage. That's later, when the actual process of setting up vaccination sites has been optimized.

But you're right, the British government has done everything wrong so far, except for their Covid vaccination program. They deserve kudos for that.

Reality check.....

2021 has about 310 days left. There are 100.000.000 people in Vietnam. That's just over 322.000 people per day, if they would start tomorrow.

Keep on dreaming. It's a logistic nightmare given the sheer numbers. Simply not going to happen in that time frame.
