Spurned Man Attacks his Teenage Love Interest with a Stick

Cambodia news in English! Here you'll find all the breaking news from Cambodia translated into English for our international readership and expat community to read and comment on. The majority of our news stories are gathered from the local Khmer newspapers, but we also bring you newsworthy media from Cambodia before you read them anywhere else. Because of the huge population of the capital city, most articles are from Phnom Penh, but Siem Reap, Sihanoukville, and Kampot often make the headlines as well. We report on all arrests and deaths of foreigners in Cambodia, and the details often come from the Cambodian police or local Khmer journalists. As an ASEAN news outlet, we also publish regional news and events from our neighboring countries. We also share local Khmer news stories that you won't find in English anywhere else. If you're looking for a certain article, you may use our site's search feature to find it quickly.

Cambodia News (Ratanakiri): On February 17, 2021, at a cashew farm in Thoy Ampel village, Ochum district, Ratanakiri, the police arrested a man for attacking two sisters with a stick.

The suspect, Hae Trong Treav, 20 years old, used a stick to attack the girls, aged 14 and 11, on the head. The suspect told the 14-year-old victim that he was in love with her, but she spurned him. The man was angry because she did not love him back, so he attacked the girl and her sister, causing them serious injuries. They have been sent to the hospital for treatment by their parents.

That’s one seriously fucked up piece of shit, 20 years old and thinks it’s ok to have a 14 year old girlfriend, and when he gets rejected he vents his frustration by battering a couple of kids (one only 11 years old) with a stick.
Chain a couple of cinder blocks round his neck and toss him in the nearest deep pond before he rapes or kills someone.

We don't usually post photos of the victim like this, but her identity is protected here, and it seems important to report the level of violence that was used against a young teenage girl who refused the advances of an adult man.

Strangely I was acused of similar thing. Only problem was that she wasn't my gf and I didn't attack her. Her family wanted $6000. I was jailed and their fictional account of what happened was published in the media. I wasn't able to give my side of the story till I appeared in court a month later. The judge was actually quite professional and he suspended my charge but that didn't help either. In fact new charges appeared from nowhere that would have jailed me for life. It took me 5 months and a lot of money to get out of prison. It's the same with civil cases in Cambodia. The accusers account of events is taken to be true until you pay to make it go away and it usually takes 6 months in jail for your case to get through the system. I'm just saying these news items are the victims account of events and the cases haven't been to court so they shouldn't be considered factual or even being published.

I can't see the wounds but maybe the case is genuine. I'm just saying that what you read in these articles is the victims account of events and these cases haven't yet gone to court

Not sure what you are insinuating here. The victims are 14 and 11 years old, and have been sent to hospital for headwounds. Why would you doubt their story ?
