Thailands Forgotten Girls

Thailand is Cambodia's neighbor to the West, and this forum is dedicated to Thai news, stories, reviews, blogs, videos, Thai people and anything else related to the country. A lot of expats have both lived and worked in Cambodia and Thailand, and this area is a place to discuss all aspects of life in Thailand and what's going on there. Most topics are about Bangkok and Pattaya because of their larger populations of expatriates and tourists in those cities, but this is for all things Thai.

Thailands Forgotten Girls

Post by phuketrichard »

got some spare Baht?
Ever wondered what it's like in a prison? How about the worst one in the world? The unbelievably inhuman living conditions and suffering that many prison systems put their prisoners through. And in some places how it is not only hell to live through, but how it is certain to scar you for life.

Nothing suspicious about 6 thai girls vacationing in lovely Ethiopia for a few days and returning home..

Tanee Sangrat a spokesman at the Thai ministry of foreign affairs said they were currently trying to verify the information by investigating the case.

the poor girls....the kg cocaine in the bags of the girls are an evidence. The story behind will be difficult to proove in front of a court.

What a hell trip....

all over the world many drug mules are in prison and can't come out, because the evidence in the cases are clear (or sometime not): the drugs in the bags of the mules are a fact. The most of them will have to stay in prison till the end of the sentence they received.

The mule catcher have realy an easy game in Asia......there are so many young naive girls out there, who just want to flee their rural life and have fun.

They can just hope, that the thai government do realy everything to take them out there !

Technically, 5 thai girls and 1 thai ladyboy :hattip:
The girls names and ages are:

1) Mr S********* T********g DOB: 1/2/2000. Nickname: Pretty. (She is a ladyboy). Pretty is well known to many here on Koh Phangan as the friendly and sweet barmaid at BM Bar and later The Hub. (We have redacted name and also blurred face at the request of the family).

So the thai government should help the Mules get out of jail in Ethiopia,
Yet how many Africans are in jail in Thailand for exactly the same offense?

Perhaps a prisoner swap ?

Sure they may not, ( or may have) known there were drugs in the luggage but.....

I'd simply point out the money is going to someone named Jason King. Supposedly the "partner" of one of the women that took the trip (that in itself doesn't make much sense).

Not sure I'd be reaching for my wallet........

'Forgotten Girls' in Ethiopia?
published : 12 Jan 2021 at 04:00

A Facebook page called "ThailandsForgottenGirls" is claiming that six Thai women were arrested at Bole International Airport in Ethiopia after they were tricked into smuggling drugs.

The case has not been verified by the Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry. The page was created on Jan 4.

However, a message posted on the Facebook page said the six were tricked by "two very pretty, well dressed and fun loving" Thai women in Bangkok before the six flew to Ethiopia's capital of Addis Ababa on Nov 17.

The post said the six women were left alone in a room without food and water for four days before they were taken out to go sightseeing by their captors.
It claimed that the six were arrested in Ethiopia by the authorities because "the luggage of all six girls had been professionally packed and the linings were filled with cocaine" at the airport.

The six women were assisted by a lawyer hired by one of the captive's husband back in Koh Phangan, the post said. The post asks for the donation of legal assistance, food, female hygiene products and money through a crowdfunding website called gogetfunding.

The post contains a list of the name of each woman and images of hand-written letters in Thai and English by one of the captives.

An image of a man allegedly involved was also attached.

Ministry spokesman Tanee Sangrat said officials are currently investigating the case and verifying the information.

They will not !

I just say, the only thing they can do is hope......but it will not help.

Many drug mules are in the same situation (also in Thai jail) and in the most case, nobody can help them.

The facts (drug in the bag) are clear. That's it !

I don't get that page? Whose bright idea was it to write about Warren Fellows' damning and exaggerated account of life in Bang Kwang in an attempt to get some Thai women home?
Have you read the infamous book “The Damage Done: Twelve Years of Hell in a Bangkok Prison” by Warren Fellows?

Ever wondered what it's like in a prison? How about the worst one in the world? The unbelievably inhuman living conditions and suffering that many prison systems put their prisoners through. And in some places how it is not only hell to live through, but how it is certain to scar you for life.

Like the opening words in the book Damage Done – “imagine the worst day you’ve ever had. Now multiply that by 1000” and you’ll have an idea of what they’re going through.
That's a really dumb strategy and likely to alienate Thai authorities.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
