These are just more reasons for me to stay in SR..go swimming..take it easy.
I hate PP and going through all that to go back to the US seems crazy.
It is interesting to see the months go by and realize I was planning on going back 14 months ago.

Got it done....so a bit of a crazy story here, Singapore airlines finally let me on after holding me until 10 to 20 minutes before takeoff. The ticketing agent literally could not figure out how much to charge me for my excess baggage. I was also forced to buy an onward ticket from Serbia as well, although once here i cancelled that. Once into Serbia immigration gave me a stamp on my passport, then customs told me to take a hike without searching my bags. Driver took me to my new place just fine.

Slight edit.... because i was so late getting away from the counter, both security and immigration at PP airport let me slide by without much other than stamping my passport, was a 13 month overstay on tourist visa legally allowed).

Apparently so, nice of the Cambodian government and immigration to waver the visa fees of @$300 in the pandemic. Fair play to you Sir, hope new journeys are to your liking, has always stay safe out there.

In times of such limited travel, I think Matty should do a thread about Serbia.

thanks trying, heres to Belgrade Serbia, walking through old town/city center... i got really lucky this week, in that i found an affordable studio near Belgrade Castle, its no joke... ill be here for at least 30 days

So a few thoughts from the road. Serbia is much more developed than Cambodia. The buildings and infrastructure look more like Germany than anything else close to Cambodia. Cost of living is of course higher than in Cambodia but lower than in most other westernized countries. Awesome place to be. The locals must take summer off because there are tons of them outside during working hours.

Please keep us all posted on your new travels Matty, I notice at 5.08 a little graffiti, I may be there one day if there's a good deal of street art, and any change in my present location and travel plans.

A few price items re: the cost of living im trying to determine what the bare bones cost would be... not surprisingly Belgrade is more expensive that Phnom Penh... heres a few comparisons... with some notes...

Apartment expat, basic
PP: $200 to $400 Belgrade $400 to $600 this is a temp apartment, something i would rent (although price in winter would be cheaper in Belgrade)

Hostel beds: if you are this low.. PP is $3, Belgrade $10, so PP def wins this one.

Milk 1 liter:
PP: $4.4 Belgrade $1, Belgrade wins this one

Beer:
PP: .50 cents for 12oz, Belgrade: $.57 cents for 17 oz, here Belgrade wins, they also have a lot more variety of beers, and even German beer is cheap.

Meal from street food:
PP: .75 to $2 Belgrade $2 to $4 PP wins, note on this... in PP you can find a full meal for $1.5 whereas in Belgrade its tough to find this for less than $5

Taxi Ride:
PP: .75 to $2.5 Belgrade $3.5 to $7 PP wins

Water in a bottle
PP: 25 cents Belgrade $.50 cents PP wins but in Belgrade you can drink tap water, so technically Belgrade wins..

Wireless:
PP $8 a month for 100 gb, Belgrade its $3 for 10gb and sim, PP a bit cheaper but not by much

Interesting. Just a note though: it's 2L per $4.1 or so for the fresh milk (not 1L), but you can easily find UHT milk for like $1-1.5/L. When I was in Eastern Europe milk, bread and cheeses were so cheap. I'm guessing similar in Serbia?
